Now today, it's not the same calculation. Nations like China and Russia and South Africa and Germany and many others are no longer weak and poor in a way that you can behave against them like the same big brother after WWII. If your power only depends on the weakness of others, your arrogance will isolate you then kill you as fast as you can't recover even after a thousand years.
That's what makes this policy dangerous to the whole world. Before WW2, many countries weren't weak. They became weak because of WW2 and US was intact which made them more powerful compared to others who were destroyed.

After WW2, this kind of behavior became a policy in Washington. This is why they are trying to repeat history by starting "proxy wars" and watch everyone else be destroyed while they remain intact. Take the recent US regime's act of aggression toward Iran on June 13. They were trying to hide behind Israel while they continued bombing Iran but from early days Iran started hitting US directly to the point when Iran directly bombed the US regime's Central Command and right after that Trump started begging for a ceasefire!!!
The reason was exactly what I explained, they want to stay back and watch everyone else be destroyed while the remain intact themselves. The moment they realize this is not 1940's anymore and even the US mainland is an easily reachable target, they back off with their tails between their legs Wink

But that's another problem the world is facing, nobody dares fight those behind the wars. Everyone just fights the proxy. Like the Russians... for 3 years they haven't even shot a single bullet in US direction... enough said.

They, the USA, are safe because of their policies that benefit their national wealth but there is another bigger reason, they have a "nice ocean" and Zelensky months ago just told this loudly as it's fact.

Nations with wars inside have to carry very expensive costs from human deaths, disabilities to economy but other countries stay behind wars benefit from those conflicts regionally or globally. People as citizens are misled by information propagandas led by governments and they don't know about facts behind wars like why they started and why wars never stopp appearing around the world.

Beyond army and ammunition wars, there are many trade wars.
The modern history of US. trade wars.

They are no longer safe. The evidence is the persistence of all american administrations to keep the world busy in conflicts so they can steal resources and sell weapons. As for its direct ennemies, it used to feed its wars against them using proxies. Ukraine for example has no benefits to fight Russia or to join NATO and even Europe knows this and avoid conflicts against Russia, but USA has the plan to make Russia weaker so they put Zelensky as president to start a losing war as we can see. Check all the wars after the Vietnam war, they all wars leaded by the USA using proxies. If you are the greatest power in the world, why you fight using proxies? Are you afraid from losing?

The tariff on India has gone up from 25% to 50% mainly because India imports oil from Russia and it's participation in BRICS. India so far is steady and has decided to not bow infront of USA pressure. Meanwhile Indian PM for first time in seven years has decided to visit China to attend SCO summit and Chinese president has welcomed this move. India is big country in south Asia and by imposing huge tariff on India, US will lose an important ally in this region. Not to forget their is huge number of Indians working in US market.

India is not an ally of the United States, their relationship is only a strategic partnership and based on mutual interests.
Indians working in the US market will be nothing compared to the US's dependence on Indian supply chains as the US increasingly wants to reduce its dependence on China. That is why I believe that imposing tariffs on India will hurt the US and not just India.

Moreover, as many have predicted, this will only bring the BRICS closer together and stronger, not make them submissive and submissive as Trump wants. Trump is pushing for faster dedollarization.

I just wonder why the world keeps taking Trump Seriously at this point. What is the US's bargaining power if they're isolated in the worldwide scale? After all, how much of a reliable ally is the US when the president has so much power and can simply tip the scales of international relations overnight.

At the end of the day, those delaying the most, Mexico and China, are the ones who benefit the most.
Hilarious statement. Mostly of countries won't isolatedUS because they're always getting huge surplus against them. They have no market to sale their product, and this is the reality. Even China was dumping their product in the asean as subs for US market since they get huge tariff.

Managing country is not the same like managing our own finance.

Managing country is not the same like managing our own finance.

It's not that other countries won't isolate the US, it's just that it takes time, they won't be able to do it immediately because it will also have serious consequences for them. As you said, managing a country is not like managing personal finances. It will take time for the world to reduce its dependence on the US, and if it is fast it could take a decade or two, and if it is slow it will take much longer.

There's no denying that the US is the world's largest consumer market, worth $17 trillion/ year, and any exporter's dream market. But with their oppression and abuse of power, other nations will soon get fed up and look for solutions is what will happen.

It is becoming clear that Donald Trump has had the Tariff policies as his strategy before even resuming office on the 20th of January 2025. India tick the box as the latest nation. Trump takes no exceptions on his tariff policies, it looked like Donald Trump and Shri Narendra Modi India’s prime minister had a good relationship.

From the news article Trump is also using this tariff on India as a punishment to them for purchasing Russian Oil. US is India’s highest market destination and Trump is holding that against them.

Trump imposing tariffs on countries because of they went against his instructions goes against diplomacy and respect. I expect India to give a fight.

So what exactly Trump is doing is that he is using tariffs as a way to blackmail the countries and those who do not deal with the USA in their interest, they will put more tariffs on them. Also, why can't India buy oil from Russia? Is every country a slave of the US and they can't make their own independent decision in their best interest  Huh

India defends its imports as it is essential for energy security and market-driven, noting other nations (e.g., China, Turkey) also buy Russian oil without similar penalties. Why get angry with India only if they want to buy cheap oil ?

You can do whatever you want. What you can't do however is expect or even demand that we continue helping you when you act against our interests. It is quite simple. Do things how we like them or we withdraw different kinds of aid and support. That should be normal, but people and governments have become very entitled these days to a level that is not sustainable.
