For daily drivers and secondary devices most Nigerians use either iOS or android the question is what specifications do you focus on when getting a device (RAM, Camera, Processors ..... Etc) and why?

I preferably chose android device over iOS and secondly when I buy my device I focus on the RAM, ROM, processing speed battery capacity and Also camera for smart capture. I am a lover of Sharp device that can do a multi tasking job both mobile device and computer. My computer system is 500gb ROM and 8gb Ram and I am even planning on upgrading it to a 16gb Ram. So I think this are the key features to consider.

While all these are a need to know it counts towards the sort out for in choosing a device, the first thing to direct on where you should prioritize is:

The purpose of usage: This na the most first thing way you need bear in mind before you even look at the specifications way you go need a device to get before you choose am.
* If na photography be your target: you go prioritize camera first (IOS devices don champion this side), ROM to aid you store those plenty photos and video you wan shoot and Screen resolution.
* If na programming: Omo, you no Dey carry phone program nothing o, na laptop you need and that mean say, you go Dey look out for devices with better Ram, Screen resolution, System edition, Base processor, ROM, etc.
* If na for trading: As at above fit apply too but, e no really need be heavy duty like above.
* If na for everyday use: Just a device with good ROM, RAM and Camera resolution don solve the matter.

When I am buying a phone, I am not moved by the camera quality of a phone because it doesn't help a phone to function well. What I look out for when buying a phone are ROM, RAM, and processor, because ROM is the internal memory of a phone where our apps, documents, videos, and pictures are kept. If a phone doesn't have a good ROM, we can't store or save enough things in that phone. RAM is the read access memory that allows a phone to perform multitasks. The processor is the central unit of a phone, which is responsible for processing data. Without it, a phone can't function.

I have only two device, 1 laptop of 8GB Ram, 256GB Rom, Intel Core 15, 7th Gen, i consider this device an average of what any user not deep on tech should use. Ideally not suitable for hefty crafts. Then i also have my Android, same 8GB and 256GB storage, still what an average would use.

Your PC will runs node seamlessly as long as you don't over load the drive.

Yes, even 2GB Ram PC can run a node. My node configuration (pruning) is set to 2000MB which is 2GB of drive space. While i have to prune there are PC capable of running full node without upgrading the drive or having external SSD.

For those running multiple nodes like Bitcoin full node and LND should have a system with higher processor and Ram, this makes up how fast and conveniently the PC can run both.

I use one device, which is an android phone. For phones, I consider  the RAM, camera and the storage. And I'm a kind of person that don't like using other brands after enjoying a particular brand for the very first time my brand is Samsung. So, RAM, camera and the storage are basically the essential things consider in android phones.

For me when it comes to mobile devices, I mainly focus on ram, processor, camera and finally security update which is highly important for any device I'm using. I prefer brands having these qualities and offering longer security updates like Samsung, Google Pixel and Iphone. Although, I'm not a fan of the IOS, I rather stick with my Samsung or used Google Pixel since they offer all these, while their price are expensive they give better buy of since in the next four, five and even years Security updates is very much expected. I get using Google Pixel product might aid Google in getting your data but there are some twerks like changing OS(Operating System) and others.

In the aspect of Laptop devices, for graphics designers/animators, good and high graphics card are important like notably Nvidia. Every Pc has their dedicated memory for graphics which is different from the Ram of the computer it's better to get higher for such tasks. While for light programming, 8gb RAM with 128/256 SSD is good for starters.
Other things to consider is going for higher Core intel processors with relatively good gen four and above for starters. Other intel processors like Pentium and Celeron are for lightweight tasks. Also, there are other processor company like AMD but you have to do research on their corresponding  intel Core processor to get a good one.

One final thing I ensure I get from a Pc is the processor speed and anything less than 2GHz is low for me except for a Pc having an high core like i7 and a gen of 7 and above and having their processor speed as 1.7GHz, anything less than this is low for me, while the processor speed less than 2GHz can still seem like processing heavy task fast this is because the Pc is still having a good gen and core.

I mostly consider the RAM when acquiring devices because it lets me freely download more apps, multi using many apps at the same time running at the background, playing music the same time. In fact, doing multiple things at the same time without hanging. I hate it so much that I'm using a device that's hanging in every click and every opening, that makes me go crazy.

The way I use devices always be like the im using machine to do work, I don't pity any device and so been hanging and wasting my time piss me off.

When going for a device, I mostly go for higher and better processors, I use a minimum of octal cores across devices, both phone and PC. Processor and dedicated graphics memory should be the main focus for those coming into tech or related fields (people for photography can get cameras).I can consider RAM too alongside processor for mobile device since it's RAM isn't easily upgradeable, but I don't base preference on RAMs when I'm getting a PC, reason being that RAMs can be upgraded easily for computers. I recently bought a PC which had octal cores with 8gb RAM and manually upgraded it to 24GB to increase it's performance.

I consider the RAM, at least 8 gigabyte RAM
The internal storage, at least I consider 256 gigabyte storage
The processor should be mid range device
The display, I prefer 1080 AMOLED display

I am using an infinix phone currently. It works fine for me without any issues. The first thing anyone should look into when getting a device should be the functionality. The device should be able to perform what they intend to buy it for. People like camera, space, while some people also enjoy the apps they have access to when using a specific device. For example, there are some apps you can find very useful on android but are not supported in iPhone and vice versa.

It would have made more sense if we can speak our individual dialects here but for now it is not allowed from the look of things. I have taking my time to read through the board for over a week. Perhaps the reasons is because Naija have up to 500 languages if everyone write in them only few will be able to understand it which will limit everyone from engaging in the public discussion. Pidgin is a general language that all Nigerians can relate to, irrespective of tribe and origin.

Keeping in mind the daily needs, I use Android mobile phones, which are easily portable and very easy to use. When buying a phone I give importance to the inherent power such as RAM and internal space. I do not give extra importance to checking the camera of the phone because most of the phones with more space phones are equipped with high-resolution cameras. With the development of technology, we should try to improve ourselves. Earlier, most of them used personal computers (PC) and used them to conduct daily activities at home, now many folk are using laptops. They carry them with them while travelling somewhere and complete urgent tasks. I still perform daily activities with PC.
I use a mobile phone with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, which can sometimes be used to complete other tasks very well along with official work.

Most androids especially the ones with latest models come with a high ROM and ROM, what I look out for is the battery capacity, and any android with a high ROM, RAM then a battery capacity of about 5000 mah meets the standards for me, uhmm I love me a phone with a good camera quality though I prefer to be behind the camera than in front. Anyways, camera wise I'll give (IOS) their flowers cause no other phones can beat the reach of those particular phones with that operating system although there are still very good Android phones that could be compared when it comes to camera quality. Lack of quality power supply have been our issue in this society so I'll prefer to go about with a good Android with huge battery capacity so I won't be forced to be moving around with a power bank.

Before buying any device, I think it would be good to consider the RAM and processor of that device. Because if the RAM or processor in your device is bad, then you will have a lot of problems in running that device. For example, your device will not run well, your device will slow down a lot, due to which you will find it very difficult to run your device. So while buying a device, you should look at the RAM processor. The camera is not very necessary.

Like you said in the first part of the post, the choice of device for Nigerians is primarily determined by their budget, there are only few exception to this. When finances increase, most people easily upgrade to better devices with better camera, higher storage capacity and better processor. This is why people continue to move from one iPhone to the other and from lower android phones to high like Samsung fold series. This pattern is also applicable to PC. Personally, I'm still on android even though I have passion for iOS. When the budget permits, I intend to transition to iOS which I feel is better for my future plans in content creation and other social media side hustles.

I have a total of 3 devices. PC, laptop and Android phone. Since I have some habit of playing games, I pay more attention to RAM and processor. In case of PC and laptop, I consider all aspects. But in case of Android phone, RAM and processor are important for me. Since I am not much interested in taking videos and photos, I never express importance to camera and storage. I think it is a personal preference of each person. Some people buy a phone by looking at camera quality and storage, while others buy a phone by looking at RAM and processor.

In case of desktop, I buy old ones. They are cheaper and I do not use desktops much. So for me, buying old desktops at a low price is profitable.

In the face of this revolution in technology, no matter how much we recommend updated versions, at the end of the day we lose to the new versions. In the crowd of thousands of products, we cannot say for sure which one is the best. Because every company is trying its best to improve their products over time.

There was a time when people knew that a 5 MB memory card was the largest storage. But today we consider 1 TB storage to be less. But if we want to enjoy the present, we have to remember one thing, which is the latest version.

I have tried all kinds of devices from low to high. But I have not found joy in using any other version like a gaming device. That is why I always prefer gaming devices. And I recommend everyone to use gaming devices. Because nowadays games are at the top of the heaviest software. Whether you do official work or gaming, if your choice is a gaming device, you can do everything effortlessly. Gaming devices have processors, RAM, storage, FPS, user-friendly features, smooth touch sensors. And looking at the current technology competition, any gaming device along with these features also comes with a good camera. I have seen many Androids which have all these features, along with 60000+ mAh battery and super fast charging facility. For all these reasons, I always prefer gaming devices.

Similarly, I prefer gaming versions of PCs and laptops. Because in them you get the latest graphics, latest processor, extra RAM and an amazing storage. Which you can change as per your wish.

Although I know everyone has their own preferences and financial literacy will also be an important factor. But Above all, I like any gaming setup. If all the products in the setup are in the latest version, So, I believe you will experience driving a beast, not a device.

Before getting a device, I first of all observe and identify the need to why am getting it at first place, am I interested in buying a new device for my forum work or for fancy sake, whereby I will have to use it in catching cruise and snapping for quality pictures, once this need is well defined, then I go my my choice, recently, I could remember I bought a new mobile device for use, in which I had to let go my old techno android and buy vivo android with 32gb ram and 265gb rom which is the internal storage, the camera is not bad, same as the weight, refreshing rate and sound quality of the phone, I also ensure the battery capacity being used does not fall below 5,000mah which can be able to last me more than 24hrs battery life capacity before charging, am not a fan of ios for now, but things might change later.
