Dear apogio, this is truly kind of you! I never saw such initiative before. Perhaps they existed (I noticed Woodie mentioning such thing, from years back), but I never saw such thing happening on the forum so far. I am not talking about donations for calamities, but such gestures as you did -- to offer such prizes in money for those you see as good contributors. I am very impressed by this.

I am sure you are not a nabab, but a regular person; I am sure you don't own palaces or yachts; but being a normal person in terms of money. As a consequence, your gesture has a big weight. Please allow me to shake your hand for this!

Thanks for the kind words Gazeta. This place is a digital home to me, so the decision wasn't very difficult for me. Yes I don't own palaces or yachts, I'm poorer than average, but money isn't everything. And of course, money don't buy happiness.

Are you AN ELEPHANT??? For some reason I thought you were a puppy...? Smiley

(I had to end this with something bringing smiles Smiley)

I'm definitely a puppy! I'm growing older in the club (I became legendary, I enterred DT1, I reached 2000+ merits, I'm tryna become a merit source). All these things happen naturally because I enjoy this forum!

1. You (the person reading this) definitely use PowerGlove's features in this forum.
I'd like to ask @PowerGlove for a donation address, if they wish to receive a donation.
Thanks, apogio!

While I deeply appreciate the gesture, it (currently) feels weird for me to accept donations from users for forum-related work (I've been paid by theymos for the work spanning 2024 and 2025; there was also an old arrangement covering some of the work I did in 2023, but I asked theymos to donate that balance to the Tor Project).

I'll be stepping down at the end of 2025, to focus on other (undecided, but likely still Bitcointalk-related) projects. Because I'll no longer be on the payroll, at that point I'll feel much less conflicted about accepting gifts.

I'm tryna become a merit source
Be careful what you wish for. I was made a merit source during that last big round of adjustments, and I can tell you: it's a tedious and thankless task that you're never quite sure you're doing correctly.

Don't be hard on yourself. Do things the way you feel comfortable, not based on what others say you should do.

Well noted! 2026 is in 3 months. Time flies really fast by the way!

There are currently two options:
1. I could set a time-locked transaction for 2026.
2. I could just leave it open until then and ask you then for an address.

In any case, when you feel less conflicted, I'd like to proceed with this donation. theymos does pay you, but I appreciate your work and help a lot as well!

I'd like to ask @d5000 for a donation address, if they wish to receive a donation.

Reasoning (optional):
1. d5000 has very good reasoning and a sharp explanation methodology.
2. d5000's posts are well constructed and educational, no matter if one disagrees or not.

Reminders:
1. This post mustn't be merited.
2. If the donation isn't accepted, please let me know.

Yup. Tell me about it. Sometimes I look in the mirror and think, "What the hell happened to all the time I thought I had?" Smiley

That's very kind of you, apogio.

What would make me really happy is if you took whatever funds that you intended to send my way, and instead sent them to the Tor Project.

They're currently having a "Free the Internet" campaign where donations will be matched by Power Up Privacy.

I think you can get a BTC address from this page.

In the OP you mentioned your tax agency, so you might find this FAQ useful:

I donated cryptocurrency, where is my receipt?
You will not receive an automatically generated receipt if you donate any form of cryptocurrency. If you require a receipt, contact us at giving(at)torproject.org with verification of your transaction.

Obviously a little off-topic, but, I think a lot of Bitcoiners underestimate how important Tor (or something like it) was to Bitcoin's whole story (the below snip is about Satoshi):

(Though he always used Tor, as far as I can tell.)

Certainly! I'm using Tor a lot, especially for information purposes and payment-related stuff.

Donation sent!

Thanks, that was very important!
