Let's be realistic for once, I don't know where OP is from and maybe that's why he chose to use the $5 thing? But if you are from AMERICA a $5 saved for many years can't get you your house, it is impossible, I am from Africa and things are very easier here compare to the America, with $150 I can pay my monthly rent but to build my own house I will need $20,000 or more.

Now, $5 for that coffee saved for a year is $1680, in the next 10years that's $16,800, this still can't get you a house in my country and in America and many other countries it is impossible, savings will never be a solution to many but I won't rule it out because if this coffee money is diverted into BTC you will be able to build the house in 10years time.

Bitcoin could make it to half a million by the time or even a million already, I hate savings as it looks like a punishment to me but I do it for daily life expenses and emergencies only, when you have income problem do not confuse it as savings problem, you are to work on making more money rather than saving more money.

Good analysis. I am with you on this one. The fact of this thread is that most people in the developed world and on the internet do have money to invest. The problem is that they are poor in their mind. Here is an expanded list that includes cigarettes:

• People who smoke.
• People who drink, even that occasional beer counts.
• Gamers.

• Over-priced concert or event goers
• Extensive shoppers or trendy clothes buyers
• Junk food and takeout addicts

and the list goes on and on, you can find many more examples. If we exclude people who are truly poor, and those people are not engaging in these behaviors because they can't, then we can conclude that almost everyone has money to invest to some extent. The problem is that their mind is poor and they are making bad choices on a daily basis.

The main difference is that the people who really devour this kind of content believe that they are smarter than the other people on social media which is definitely not true.
