I am not sure if source code can be verified.
knox is only the lockdown of the device, and builds on top of the Android security model. The actual manager of the secret is AirGap Vault and this is 100% verifiable and even the first wallet ever to receive the reproducible the wallet scrutiny score Can AirGap Knox be installed on any Android devices, included devices with custom ROM's or Pixel phones that operate with GrapheneOS (not that I would do that), or stock Android must be used?
Knox is meant for Android enterprise devices. which comprises over 550+ devices as of today. https://androidenterprisepartners.withgoogle.com/devices/#!?device_categories=knowledge_worker Correct me if I am wrong but I think we can achieve something similar to disable everything on software level, and for little more money we can already buy brand new hardware wallets. One more question... can AirGap Knox be removed from device and how?
Hardware security models aswell as the security design in general of mobile devices is way more secure and battle tested compared to the currently available hardware wallets. The reason is, these devices don't have the privilege of "not care" about the physical attack vector, yet everyone wants to use them them for very security relevant tasks (mobile banking, identity management, etc) The knox lockdown performed is one step deeper than what is offered to the user through i.e. settings. Also user errors (i.e. accidentally turning on wifi) are taken care of by the lock down.

Maybe that is the case but they only have security updates for few years at most, I think apple has 5 years, samsung flagship devices has 4 years, cheap phones 1 or 2 years, and than they become unsecure. Since Airgap wallet is based on older device, that means that most of those devices are generally unsecure. The knox lockdown performed is one step deeper than what is offered to the user through i.e. settings. Also user errors (i.e. accidentally turning on wifi) are taken care of by the lock down.
So is there a way to revert changes to default state with Reset phone function, and remove AigGap later if we changed out minds?

According to the last FAQ on https://airgap.it/airgap-knox/, there is a reset feature that converts the phone back into a standard Android device. @Pearson12 Does it require a password or other type of authentification to reset AirGap Knox and uninstall the device manager?

Yes, old models are less secure than new models, but nothing stops the user from using a new model. We started with the idea "based on older model" but some of the libraries we use now require users to use more recent OS, which in turn requires them to use new models. So is there a way to revert changes to default state with Reset phone function, and remove AigGap later if we changed out minds?
Yes, there is a factory reset button. After factory resetting, your devices comes back to normal.

No further authentication is required to Reset the device. Here is a video that shows how the reset is done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h12Y_HhQQI

Is it possible to exchange Bitcoin for cash, or only bank accounts and credit(debit cards are accepted? I checked out your latest blog post and mtpelerin website but I couldn't find anything about that information. This is cool stuff and I am supporting anything kyc-free, but I don't get it why should anyone use air-gapped devices for selling/buying bitcoin. EDIT: OK, i found Selling Crypto page on Mtpeleri with more information: https://www.mtpelerin.com/support#selling

I only had a brief experience [e.g. tests] of using their wallet, so my answer shouldn't matter, but it was good [if you're a newcomer to this field, you might have an easier time with some of the traditional HWs]. - If you ever decide to use this wallet, make sure all of your devices make the cut: Android (5.0 and up), iOS (12 and up)

Sorry for necro-bumping, but I was looking for ways to make use of my extra Android phones, and I came across this topic. Has anybody had success using this app up until recently? I plan on repurposing those extra smartphones (both of which I think had Android 12 OS), not for cold storage but just to test them out. If my understanding is correct, you would need two smartphones for this to work, right? How did the test go? Is it hard to set up? Or relatively easy?

You don't necessarily need two devices to make it work [source], but if you want AirGap wallet to have the highest level of security, you should set it up with two separate devices. How did the test go? Is it hard to set up? Or relatively easy?
I no longer recall the exact details, but based on my previous post here, the overall experience must have been good. - If you're someone who usually plays around with different types of wallets, you shouldn't face any issues with it, but the same can't be said for beginners.

That is good to know. I'm gonna try and make it work and test it on this extra android smartphone that I have. It's currently running a Xiaomi hyperOS, not sure if that's a cause for concern (being a chinese phone and all that) but I guess it's fine. Just a test, I have no intention of using it as a cold storage. I have better option for that for sure. It's such a shame the devs abandoned this thread though, I guess they're done promoting their app in this forum and have moved on to other aspects of marketing it. They are still active on github though so that's good news.

Airgap is a great wallet, it's just harder to understand (for beginners) because ideally it should be used on an offline device to generate keys and on an online device to watch-only transactions. Its BIP-85 works well; I can derive up to 10 mnemonics (the last time I tested it, I don't know if it's improved), so I can use this as a single backup scheme to test or actually use other wallets.

You can use AirGap for this, but another alternative you can try is CupCake wallet, so check them both and see what you like more. What you need to know for Airgap wallet is that it can't work with very old Android devices, but I can't remember exactly what is minimum Android version. I tried with one old Android phone I had and it could not install Airgap, but it worked fine with newer model. PS Don't forget to reset your device and enable airplane mode after installing the app.
