I’m seeing online that people who actually tried to accept the offer are being told that it was a bug in the system, so I guess Tesla isn’t trying to buy them back after all.

I've never heard of auto-makers doing massive buy back of their cars. Imho such a move would be incredibly bad for business. Even recalls for fixes are expensive, but buy back.. no.

I was hearing a little bit of wind noise as a result of the off-road light bar, so I complained about it on X. Someone else that had one looked into it and then installed a 1/8 inch backer rod to address the issue. I went ahead and followed suit. Hopefully that space wasn’t needed for airflow. Hard to even see it on the pic, but it’s there between the windshield/light and fit like a glove.

Got an appointment scheduled to get the pillars on my Cybertruck replaced per the latest optional recall.  In that one dude's video they showed him pulling off the steel above the windows so Tesla addressed that fix as people on the internet were saying how easy it was to remove them and claiming they would fly off (I've pulled on mine, they aren't going anywhere without purposefully trying to remove them).

I've wanted to do a pillar delete (black wrap on the pillars so they "disappear") and this seems like a great opportunity to do so, so I'm going to have it done.  I'm excited for another customization and I think this will really give the truck a standout custom look.  We'll see in a few weeks.

I have an appointment scheduled for the pillar delete install. Will get some pictures posted next week at some point. I’m really excited about this and hope it comes out as cool as I believe it will. I wanted to do the pillars black originally, so this is one of those things that makes you believe someone up there is looking out.

Recall completed. Spent the day at the Tesla service center (I didn’t like their first install job so I made them do it over) talking Tesla and basketball. I enjoyed myself but I probably could’ve spent my day being more productive. Nevertheless, here is the current state of the Cybertruck. Funny that the video of someone pulling off one of these panels made Elon redesign it to be bolted on.

Spent my morning at the wrap shop getting my pillars (cantrails) wrapped black and ceramic coated. Hard to tell from the picture in my dark garage and it is overcast outside so this is the best pic I’m posting for now. It has been described as looking “sick as fuck” and I concur. My vision has been realized.

Uh oh. More trouble in Cybertruckland. The Tesla Hoe said her off-road light bar came off on the highway. Tesla has suspended installations while they look for a fix to the adhesive mounting procedure. Hopefully mine doesn’t go flying off. I expect this will result in a trip to the service center for a re-install at some point.

Not a huge fan of Cybertruck myself, but paying for it in BTC is next-level cool. Shows how far we’ve come from the days when Bitcoin was just for geeks online.

When I had the upper part of my truck wrapped black the installer told me about an optional upgrade to the bed cover that protects the airflow holes and makes the bed waterproof.

So I took it into the shop and had them give me the new bed cover slat. I never noticed it before, but it looks very nice now.  


Edit: Also updated to software version 2025.38.8 with FSD v13.2.9.  The next update should come with FSD v 14.2.

FSD v14 is updating on my truck! This update gives the Cybertruck the ability to reverse as well as park at locations as well as bringing Mad Max mode and a few other goodies. This is the first major update since I’ve gotten FSD and it provides the ability to get from A to B without ever touching the steering wheel.

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.1.7 includes:
• Added Arrival Options for you to select where FSD should park: in a Parking Lot, on the Street, in a Driveway, in a Parking Garage, or at the Curbside.
• Added handling to pull over or yield for emergency vehicles (e.g. police cars, fire trucks, ambulances).
• Added navigation and routing into the vision-based neural network for real-time handling of blocked roads and detours.
• Added additional Speed Profile to further customize driving style preference.
• Improved handling for static and dynamic gates.
• Improved offsetting for road debris (e.g. tires, tree branches, boxes).
• Improve handling of several scenarios including: unprotected turns, lane changes, vehicle cut-ins, and school busses.

Edit: First ride went great. It backed out of my garage, drove me to a taco spot, and parked in a spot without me ever touching the wheel. Then it drove me home and pulled halfway into my garage. Mad Max mode is awesome. Shorter stop sign stops, a little fine tuning to parking, and I think Tesla will have self driving solved for 99% of people.
