Hi,

Has anyone else had trouble with transferring money into an MtGox account recently, and it taking ages to show up, e.g. 7+ days?

Perhaps a better question is, on average how long does it take for your international wire transfer to show up in MtGox?

I transferred money on 17th Jan and it has not shown up yet.  In the past it has been really speedy for me, roughly 24~48 hours.  Have contacted support, and they just say may have to wait ~7 days.

Hi Mat

Sorry to hear that you have some delays with your transfer but this may due to many different things including local Public Holidays on our hands, difference in Currency (Sending EUR to a USD account for example), Add the actual Chinese New Year... and this may, I said may explain why you are having some issues here.
This said, make sure to open a ticket if you did not already did it, that we can check this further.

Cheers

Hmm, yes might just be bad timing. I believe your US offices were shut as well for Martin Luther King holiday, which might have slowed it down a bit more as well.

I'll contact my bank as well, see if they can shed some light.

Cheers,
~Mat

Hi,

For any wire inquiry for transfers sent to us, please ask your bank to provide a copy of the SWIFT transaction (or if not possible, a receipt showing all the data including transaction ID, intermediate bank, target bank, etc).

Wire transfers are usually credited instantly, however US holidays have a global impact on SWIFT transfers (the Martin Luther King holiday caused almost all bank transfers on that period to be delayed) and local holidays may too depending on which of our banks you sent to.

MtGox is normally good about posting wires upon arrival, I have had internationally wired funds tradable on Gox in under 5 hours.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.
