hey

i am curently having gigabyte 990xa-ud3 with 5850+5830+5770 on it

i have bought extenders from 1x > 16x pciex, mbo has 2 of theese for 2 more cards.

Anyone here know if its a good idea to put 2x gpu more on this mbo, coz i know some mbos dont like those extenders (from 1x>16x)

i am offered another board rather cheap so i am trying to figure on whats the best thing to do, but i also need to consider my budget.

main question is this ; does 990xa-ud3 accept 5 cards (even with this 3 i have sometimes problems (wont boot, or wont show all 3 cards))

cheers

I have that board.   I have it run it with as many as 5 cards before.  It was tricky to get setup.

What worked for me was having a 16x->16x extender on the main pcie slot.  After that the others could be 1x-16x either powered or not.

One thing to note is you will have to do the pcie1x jumper trick to get the board to see all the 1x extended GPUs.

Right now I have 3 5970s on it and it runs great.  It won't work on BAMT though without help.

Let me know how you get on.  Smiley
