Big exchanges can get a big stash of a growing altcoin then offer it for exchange on their platform which will be bullish for the price and they will make a profit.

Yes, some even make their own coins, mine them, and offer them for exchange.  Also many times.

It must be very tempting for big exchanges to pull this trick to earn some easy money.

Well, ask Bittrex.. they are doing all kinds of tricks for the "easy money"

Sorry but we have no bag of tricks nor have we ever done this.

Thanks,

Ryan @ Bittrex

I sort of get the feeling this is what happened with bter / Bitbay.

Curious - always wondered about that. Is there a particular reason you don't?

Believe me, i could find a lot of proof for that. It's not like Cryptsy and Bittrex were always honest to their customers. Shady past is written all over the Internet archive you just have to know how to find it.

Customers chose to buy an alt coin or not, most people buy blindly without knowing anything about the coins owners. They are buying the marketing strategy and they are taking part in it hoping to make a profit.

After reviewing the ICO/IPO scene we decided to take the stance of not offering them. I do not expect this policy to change.

Deleted: See post of BitJohn below.
I agree that it is not necessary to post the whole CAP thing in each thread.

Wow are you posting this CAP thing in every thread? Bottom line no Cryptsy did not make CAP Shakezula created it for folks in Cryptsy chat. This was a year and a half ago when their were 15-20 coins. It was created in response to all the premine garbage. So I supported it because it was fair, and provably so. I also support BTC and LTC. Go look into the old bottle cap threads your information is totally wrong.

For someone who didn't follow the story you are talking about, it is very hard to follow.

Most people like me will not look into it if we don't do business with people involved in the matter.

Huge scams with exchanges but Cryptsy is by no means the worst. Look to Bittrex first.

Altcoins market can be more easily manipulated since some altcoins are premined and it is a lot less liquid
