The Great Bitcoin DooM Tournament

I would like to put forward what could be a fun idea for the Bitcoin Community to get involved and have a little fun with one another.

Remember that classic game DooM from 1994? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_%28series%29

I would like to organise a tournament to be played between Bitcoin Enthusiasts to compete against one another using a popular DooM port Zdaemon (http://www.zdaemon.org/)

I would however like some ideas first, Such as prize money, entry money etc

I am happy to host the servers on my dedicated server. I don't expect any BTC for hosting, I'm just putting this idea forward for a bit of fun.

Please let me know what you think and if you would like to join. It would be nice to get an idea of the numbers.

It would be really fun and honestly the prize doesnt have to be big because its fun killing people anyways. The entry should be like 0.001

LOL oh yea I remember DOOM, I had it on 4 floppys.

Making custom wad files took up many hours of my younger days.

Sounds good, I never heard of Zandronum, I used to play a bit of skulltag though.

Zandronum used to be skulltag but then they renamed or something for some reason.

yeah plenty of wad made with it on doomworld

for the tournament i would prefer not a directly competition(1v1) but maybe some variants, like who can complet some level at certain diff, without dying at ultra violence or nightmare diff, or who can complete it in less time

Same here really, Maybe its a good idea to set up a few tournaments, maybe Deathmatch and Single Player?

Yea that would be fun.....

I used to play that for hours and hours.... The Death match was my favourite. While you thinking on doing this, Counter strike would also be a good bet.... they have less chance of cheating.. I liked DooM but a high ping would be unfair in a fast paced game like Doom.

What do you say... going for a game with less speed and more skill?
