Looking nice, even it is a bit unusual, it is still nice but also a good news. One more step closer to global success.

Good news! Xapo and their card will provide a familiar environment for everyone who ever used cards and online banking, instead of some mysterious client, blockchain and such stuff Smiley.

Bitcoin debit card sounds awesome, I'm gonna request one debit card for myself from Xapo. Has anyone requested the debit card? How much time does it takes to receive the debit card? Roll Eyes

dude i been waiting like 6 months for my card, I bet this is another try to get people to use there wallet scam again.  They are using the Media to get people to use there wallets plus they want you to verify your identity on there as well.

it's seems good and all but it is not anonymous, bitcoin is aiming at anon and those cards are the opposite of that, not really desirable

i'm sure there will be a startup or existing company who will offer the same but then "fully" anonymous.
no one can guarentee 100% anonimity. but if it comes close to that i am already happy.

Exactly.  They love announcing stuff and pumping the hell out of the press - and then changing the subject to their stupid fort knox storage.  Who the hell needs fort knox storage.  Dumbest idea yet.  Still no bitcoin debit card which was promised many moons ago.

Is there really any point to offering a debit card when no merchant has backed any support by accepting it as a payment type?

A quote from the website: "Then, the card will enable holders to make BTC payments anywhere they are accepted, including stores, services and merchant locations."

If I assume that the card works in my country "India" too, there is no local store that accepts bitcoins. Just a few online websites that accept bitcoin payments:

http://www.bitcoinvalues.net/who-accepts-bitcoins-payment-companies-stores-take-bitcoins.html

Also, the price of the card is not mentioned.

Though it sounds good, I just wonder what's the difference between using your phone loaded with bitcoin and swipe it at terminal accepting bitcoin. I imagine this would be more convenient or in any other way means more control over security of my coins.

The guy behind Xapo seems pretty respectable and also pretty dedicated to ensuring the success of bitcoin. Perhaps, he's thinking this new advancement would go over well and be pretty beneficial to ordinary people to be able to use bitcoin w/o knowing the intricacies of it. Plus, their vault service seems handy for those that eventually engage themselves in bitcoin but would feel safer having a respected third party hold their wealth for them to prevent thefts and mistakes.

I have a Xapo debit card and it's really nice. The card is linked in real time to my Xapo app so I can use bitcoin literally as a bank account.  Cool

Can I apply and expect to get the card? Last time when I signed in, I was never even invited to apply.

I still don't understand how this would work. Like, how does debt work within the bitcoin ecosystem? how does this compute in the blockchain? I dont really get it.
