I just wanted to link this because I see more of this type of behavior here on this forum, than any other place I have seen on the internet and the subjects I have seen these used against/for in the past were also highly polarized and often controversial. http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2012/08/the-15-rules-of-internet-disinformation.html

Interesting read. I agree with you, I often see this type of behavior here. Just curious, would you be willing to give some examples of where you've seen this before? I'd rather not, not only for privacy sake, but because I don't want this thread to be about any other subject except this system of diversion. I assure you tho, the subject matters involved get as much attention from this kind of activity as possible. As far as seeing it yourself look carefully at any public forum, comment, or place where regular people discuss controversial topics of any kind.

Thought this should have a reread because of the mythical video circulating supposedly making the Muslim world angry.

Believe it or not, this is probably one of the most important threads on this forum. Full Disclosure: I'm guilty of only 18 of the 15 Rules, but not on purpose or by some else's agenda, just by my stupidity and recently converted belief system. TECSHARE, you did omit quoting the most important aspect of that article of which I will now do the honor: Postscript: Over a number of years, we’ve found that the most effective way to fight disruption and disinformation is to link to a post such as this one which rounds up disruption techniques, and then to cite the disinfo technique you think is being used.
Specifically, we’ve found the following format to be highly effective in educating people in a non-confrontational manner about what the disrupting person is doing:
Good Number 1!
Or:
Thanks for that textbook example of Number 7!
(include the link so people can see what you’re referring to.) I suggest we start using the above, even tagging me with any rule when it applies. ~Bruno~

Encourage people to be apathetic instead of trying to change things. But...but...my apathy is genuine and heart-felt.

You can basically read Schopenhauer's "Eristische Dialektik" as a detailed step-by-step program on how to troll Internet forums. Only it was written 150 years before there ever were Internet forums.

This article would be much more palpable if it was not confusing the internet with organising a protest group. It's so biased it becomes silly. But i agree that some of the points are relevant to people that use the word 'anarcho-' when describing their political views.

This is still important! If you see good examples of any of these on the forum please quote them here.

4. Suggest extreme, over-the-top, counter-productive solutions which will hurt more than help Yep. +1'ing just because, the thing is though, it's not just on internet forums this happens. This is still important! If you see good examples of any of these on the forum please quote them here. The recent gun debate bollocks, I'd link the threads but I don't think I need to because it's so easy to see.

I think people need to review this OP again considering recent events on this forum.
