Hi All As you can see from pic below chain one has two 'x' on it. This is causing my hashrate to go VERY random, from 0Gh to 2000Gh !!!!!! Can i just remove the faulty card and lose 10% off my hashing power ? Which end of the S3 is it ?? Cheers

Yes yank that card and it should hash like normal. I would recommend that you find the card and swap it into a different slot. Make sure it is not a bad slot on the motherboard causing the issue. If the card still tosses X's at you then just pitch it.

Why would you want to yank the entire card when it's only 2 chips showing the 'x'? Looking at the screenshot, I can see that you're mining on p2pool. That's likely your problem right there. The S2 was notoriously badly behaved with p2pool. I don't know if it was ever addressed in later versions of the firmware - I think it was.

Well the card is now showing all x's except for two I have pulled the card and it now displays 9 asics and all ok (o's). Not tried it it another port yet, but will try later. Where did you read that it has problems on p2pool It's been running 25mins and is averaging only 845Gh, with - Getworks - 101 Accepted - 11 Rejected - 6 HW - 379 Does this seem normal ?? HW error/Rejected shares seems VERY high to me Anyone advise ? Cheers **EDIT** at 28mins the speed has dropped to 0Gh !!!!!! With NO x on any of the 9 boards

your hash speed is going madly because of your stupidly high diff!
is not the x!
if you look on your pic at diff u can see 19.7k and best diff for s2 is 512-1k
leave that card there! the x's will disapear after power off, 5min brake and power on again! but it may come back! is normal to come back
miner is fine, diff is not!

Power off the miner for 1 hour, unplug all power cables, plug it all back in and fire it up again, x's will probably go away.
I think the reasons for your hash fluctuation are other, as has been noted.

There is NO option to set the diff on the miner (like i can with some pools/dragon miners)....
I have removed the xxxxxxxx card and it has been stable at an average of 850Gh (not going upto 2000+Gh and then to 0 anymore).
Diff is now 701.

u are mining shitcoins and diff goes sky high and too low have the same problem with a rental right now. the graph is like a hair comb, not constant hashing as it should be!
i think your speed will fluctuate the same, minus ~100gh/s from that card

I'd like to fix it for you and then send it back. If I can't fix it then I will buy it off you.
Let me know!

I have put the card back in but at the opposite end of the rack, no faults, no x's and its stable at 1000Gh. The ONLY difference is the pool....I switched to us-east.p2pool.co:9332 instead of europe.p2pool.co:9332 BUT difficulty is still 2.7k !!!!!! If i use Petamine pool it diff drops to about 700

EDIT - I have a faulty blade of a dragon miner, 250Gh, never worked since i purchased the miner so it runs at 750Gh....Is that any good to you ?? Cheers for replies guys.

You can set difficultly on p2pool... just add +XXX after your BTC address. For example, if you want to set your difficulty to 1000 you just put your worker as BTCADDRESS+1000 and password as x. If you are on a node that has a high hash rate in comparison to your own gear (in other words, the node has like 100TH and you've only got 1TH, you'll also want to use the "/" parameter. You do it like this: BTCADDRESS+1000/1000 for your user. That will ensure your miner gets only diff 1000 shares and also tells the node that you will be submitting minimum difficulty share-chain shares.

Not that I mine anymore (I don't) but just wondering, if you start only submitting shares of X difficulty or greater, would that reduce ones payouts, as they would assumedly be submitting fewer shares to the pool?
Just wondering...thx

What do you guys set your miners to ?? All my Dragon miners are set to 256k (default) - 17Th, plus one S3, so a total of 18Th on a pool of approx 70-80Th. I get very random speeds on the pool from and average around 13-14Th !!!!! I just tried the parametrs on the S3 miner and it worked Thanks
