The prosecutor at Matthew Townsend’s March 19 preliminary hearing appeared to be auditioning for a Daytime Emmy. Her subsequent performance, and that of her colleagues, may be sufficient to earn a criminal contempt charge. Townsend, who is active in the Cop Watch (or police accountability) movement, was arrested without cause on February 2nd in Meridian, Idaho for the supposed offense of walking away from a cop who wouldn’t charge him with an actual crime. On the eve of his hearing he protested that mistreatment in a Facebook post promising a “shame campaign” against his kidnapper, Officer Richard Brockbank of the Meridian Police Department – and any public officials who collaborated in that outrage. The Meridian PD wanted to prosecute Townsend for felonious “intimidation of a state witness,” a charge without merit that summarily convicts Officer Brockbank of cowardice. The intent was to have Townsend arrested before or during the March 19th hearing on his “resist and obstruct” charge. Long story, more... https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/03/william-norman-grigg/youre-a-2nd-class-citizen-compared-to-a-cop/

This would have solved the problem, if one had actually existed. Instead, the Meridian Police Department and Attorney’s Office went judge-shopping.
A complaint was filed by Ada County DA’s office citing a carefully cropped – and artfully dishonest – rendering of Townsend’s Facebook post. It was, in substance, indistinguishable from the version of the post in which Judge Cawthon had found no evidence of a genuine threat. By way of an ex parte hearing, and in violation of the existing order by the trial judge, an arrest warrant was obtained against Townsend. The extent to which prosecutors/cops go is amazing.

Lovely.
I live 50 miles away.
However, I disagree with the title of the thread. Cops, and their masters (which ain't you!) don't view the "mundanes", as Will Grigg puts it, as second class citizens. They view us as milch cows and targets.
On my part, I view anyone who willingly surrenders their personal identity to the herd (or government) to be significantly less than human, and I have NO problem telling a cop that.

Actually, as a random underemployed nobody, I'm a 5th class citizen.
Active military and blue-shirt cops are 4th class,
Military officers and white shirt cops are 3rd class,
Military top brass, federal agents, lawyers, state representatives, and lobbyists are 2nd class
Corporate executives, federal representatives, celebrities, and banksters are 1st class citizens.
The unemployed are 6th class citizens, entitled to the state's protection from suffering and death for a maximum of 99 weeks. After that, they become untouchables, invisible. Humbly and quietly they grow into a mob.
The homeless are not citizens. They're an irritation, an infestation, less than disposable rubbish to the capitalist system.
God bless america.

It is true that US citizen system is starting to look like that. If you dont have money in the US you are basically second class citizen. If you have money and power you are living a dream if not... a nightmare. But life in the US is still better that life in some other countries where 95% of people are living a pathetic life without hope and even slight chance to climb a social ladder.

That may be, but it doesn't make what's happening here right. When I was a boy, and even a young man, this was pretty close to a free nation. You could do what you pleased if you weren't doing it to someone else with a minimal amount of official hassle. Now? Cops are gunning people down over expired inspection stickers on their damn car. And when a cop kills someone for the thrill of it, they give the miserable son of a bitch a paid vacation and a medal. We've become a creeping police state. The PTB have been wise enough to move slowly, ratcheting one more freedom with every sweep of their arm,. but not so fast as to spark a revolution. We, the frogs, are being boiled...

^ "The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. Pretty sure it was Josef Stalin, or maybe even Lenin. But yes, it's quite appropriate. And of course, one that was Hitler that has been used by EVERY politician before and since.. “The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation.” Under that guise they have taken away the ability to be an adult in modern America Or should I say, the United State of America? The reality of independent states went south (pun intended) in 1861 and was abolished in the usual manner, at gunpoint, in 1865. they made it formal with the seventeenth amendment. But the vestiges of the Republic remained to a great degree until the opportunity presented by the attacks on the World Trade Center allowed the bastards to take several giant leaps forward in the curtailment of liberties. And the damn sheep ate it up. See my sig for how I feel about the vast majority of my countrymen

When I was a boy, and even a young man, this was pretty close to a free nation, at least for white heterosexual males like me. Fixed that for you.
