Used is okay if the seller is honest. I believe you can return it if it is dead.

All mining equipment is used. Whoever is selling it is going to be mining with the equipment they are selling until they actually receive payment for it. This is how someone can sell a miner 'from inventory' as miners are a quickly deprecating asset. If they do not run them while they are waiting to sell them then they are acting in a financially irrational way.
You should buy from the one who is reputable enough that you will believe that you will actually get what you paid for. If they are both reputable enough so that you reasonably believe you will get a working miner then go with the cheaper one.

In a way yes. Most companies do a burn in test. Some are made and shipped out quicker. But the big difference is direct you get a warranty in most cases. If you buy used there is no warranty. So there are differences of buying direct and used.

So there are differences of buying direct and used. Well yea some companies will burn in for testing purposes, however if a company is shipping immediately then they should be mining with the equipment they are waiting to sell from the time they produce the miner up until the time they actually sell it. It is expensive and inefficient to start and stop production multiple times so production is done in batches, companies do not produce exactly 150 miners in one day because they sold 150 miners in one day, they will produce 2000 miners in one week because they anticipate being able to sell 2000 miners the following week

I agree with everything you said on last post. Since we were talking about S3's all at this point are used market. Meaning chances are it will come from a person company besides in this case Bitmain. My point was just that from used market most likely no warranty. If they buy direct from company normally 90 day warranty (varies by companies). So you get a warranty even if burn in test was very long time. It might be a moot point though since S3's were built like tanks and seem to be still working for by far the majority still.

I don't think bitmain is actually selling the S3 anymore, I know they are not doing so publicly. I am also fairly certain that reselling an S3 is not going to void the warranty from bitmain

It is most of they have been used to mine where they are out of warranty by the time they find a second home.

I have a pair of s-3's running 24/7 since July 23 or so.
They are pretty durable. Buying used from amazon or ebay is okay both ebay and amazon give
a short return period.

S3 will not be from Bitmain as it is not being made at this point. You have to get C1, S5, etc to get new one from Bitmain. Now if you do want a new S5 you could email Bitmain. If you email them and ask if they can help I would guess they could find a way to make sell happen through email. And again if S3 best bet is used market. I would go look at ebay.

I think you might be able to do better on price at other places.

There is not a good record. It is from a 3rd party on your link. It is NOT amazon selling it. It is someone selling their miner ON amazon. With forums you can get a better chance of knowing what item is like. Also with Ebay you can see pictures of it (on most). With your listing having a stock picture, there not a lot we can tell you.

You are buying from a seller selling THROUGH amazon. It is not amazon selling the item. You can email or call amazon to ask on shipping.
