FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 – Brazil vs Switzerland PREVIEW

The world cup favourites are finally coming into action. Nothing more exciting than Brazil at the world cup, they bring flair, skill, goals and everything else to football. They will face a tough Swiss side in the opener. The Swiss side are well organised, hard to score against, hard working and have been a good European side overall over the past few years. Swiss nearly knocked out Argentina 4 years ago, which just shows that they’re no pushover. Brazil are the heavy favourites, but they’ll have to be engaged in this game and not allow Switzerland to get comfortable.

BRAZIL

As mentioned already, Brazil are the world cup favourites and are looking to add the record 6th world cup to their trophy cabinet. Brazil are basically a flawless team, they have depth in almost every position, they have some of the best players in the world which include Neymar, Coutinho, Marcelo etc. They have one of the best attacks, a very solid midfield with 3 powerful midfielders in there to pick from.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Sweden vs South Korea PREVIEW

Crucial game for both nations because after this it doesn’t get any easier for either nation with Mexico and Germany in the group. Both teams know they have to win this game otherwise their hopes to advance will be given a massive dent. Sweden are a well balanced side who have had great success since Ibrahimovic’s retirement, meanwhile South Korea are more of a one man team like Sweden used to be with Ibra, but Korea have Son Heung Him who they’ll look at to help them have a successful campaign. Let me get into further detail with the preview below.

SWEDEN

It seemed like life would get tough for Sweden after their greatest ever player Ibrahimovic retired, but they seem to have become a better unit over the two year period and have had some great success knocking off some top sides on their way to the tournament.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Belgium vs Panama PREVIEW

One of the best nations at the world cup meaning arguably the worst team. Anything other than a Belgium win would be a shocking result. Belgium are coming into their 2nd straight world cup with high hopes as their golden generation have hit their prime and it’s their biggest chance at winning the world cup. Meanwhile for Panama this is their 1st ever World Cup and just being in the tournament is an unbelievable achievement for them. Of course Panama will leave it all and will try to shock the Belgians, but it’s going to take a miracle for them.

BELGIUM

Belgium are coming into this tournament as one of the main contenders to win it and you can understand why when you just look at their squad. They have an incredibly strong all around team starting from world class centre backs like Vertonghen, and Aldeiweireld who’s actually had injury riddled season but has looked good recently.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Tunisia vs England PREVIEW

England are finally getting their campaign underway and it’s already a must win game for them. Knowing that a loss here could essentially put them in a very tough position, they need to pick up all 3 points. England are coming into the world cup with relatively high hopes, looking at their side this is the best they’ve had in a few years now led by one of the best strikers in the world in Harry Kane. Meanwhile Tunisia are no pushover, the highest ranked African team are here to make it tough for England and will try to advanced further. Knowing that England have had some horrible tournaments recently and are under pressure, they are going to have to deliver. So will it be another heartbreak for England, or will they get the tournament underway in a good fashion?

TUNISIA

Tunisia are coming into this world cup as a team not expected to go further than the Group Stages. Tunisia have a relatively decent side, they’ve shown some good signs coming into the world cup playing decent football. Tunisia have a well organised squad and does not lack creativity up top, they will be a tough nut to crack for England, but will also make England nervy at the back because they won’t just sit back for the whole game as they know that a win could be absolutely crucial for them.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Colombia vs Japan PREVIEW

We’ve finally approached near the of the 1st round of fixtures. A group that is probably the most unpredictable and in the 1st game the best teams meet the worst, but when you compare the level of the teams, they’re not that much separated and its Colombia facing Japan. These nations met in 2014 and Colombia won 4-1, but the score did not reflect the match, it was much closer. Colombia will be led by their star man James Rodriguez who’ll be looking to add to his successful 2014 campaign. They’re an exciting side who are expect to play fun attacking football. Japan have some good players of their own such as Okazaki, Kagawa, Honda and many others. It should be an entertaining games as both sides look to kick off the campaign on a bang.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Russia vs Egypt PREVIEW

The hosts are back in action and they are facing a desperate Egypt side. Russia have set the stage on fire in their opening game smashing Saudi Arabia 5-0 while scoring some of the most beautiful goals so far in the tournament, however now the test is going to be much tougher. Egypt are now in desperation mode, after a heart breaking 0-1 loss to Uruguay after a 89th minute winner, Egypt know that they have to win and they have been boosted with the news that Mohammed Salah is ready and is fully fit to start. A win for Russia puts them through, a win for Egypt increases their chances massively and puts Russia in a tough situation. A very important game this will be.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Portugal vs Morocco PREVIEW

The European champions led by Cristiano Ronaldo are back in action and they’re facing up against a team who have dig themselves a HUGE hole after a lackluster, disappointing display losing to Iran. With a win here Portugal would officially send Morocco home as there would be no result possible from the other group game to keep them alive. Morocco’s backs are against the ball, if not winning the game, then they absolutely must avoid a draw as it 100% means an elimination. Portugal put on an exciting show and Ronaldo just continues to hit highs with a hattrick against Spain, while Morocco was a massive let down losing late to Iran. A game where both teams have everything to play for.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Uruguay vs Saudi Arabia PREVIEW

The best team in the group faces the worst. A game where everybody expects Uruguay to destroy Saudi Arabia. Uruguay started off the tournament with a good late win against Egypt putting themselves in a great position to advance, meanwhile Saudi Arabia put in the worst performance of the tournament out of all teams getting embarrassed 5-0 by Russia. After that performance, nobody expects Saudi Arabia to do anything and this is expected to be an Uruguayan goal fest.

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Iran vs Spain PREVIEW

Who would’ve though that we’d see Iran top of the group at any point? Yes it’s only been one game but Iran are currently topping the group beating Morocco 1-0 with a 95th minute winner. Iran put in a good shift, looked organised at the back, frustrated Morocco and stole the win. Meanwhile Spain took part in one of the most entertaining games drawing 3-3 with Portugal. Going forward Spain looked flawless at times with amazing link up play and solid finishing by Diego Costa. Spain are the massive favorites here, but Iran will look to frustrate them. They’ve nearly stole a point from Argentina in 2014, can they actually do it against Spain? Let’s get into the full preview.

Argentina started their tournament with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Iceland, meanwhile Croatia did a good job with a 2-0 win against Nigeria. 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Brazil vs Costa Rica PREVIEW

Tournament favourites Brazil are back in action and after a disappointing opening game, they’re now turning their focus on Costa Rica. Brazil put in an average display in their opening game against Switzerland where some stars failed to shine, meanwhile Costa Rica lost 0-1 to Serbia from a magical free kick by Kolarov. Brazil know that they can’t drop points again as they could be in trouble, meanwhile Costa Rica will be playing for their lives, a loss here and Costa Rica are out. Can Costa Rica serve up something magical like in 2014, or will Brazil prove why they’re the favourites?

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP – Serbia vs Switzerland PREVIEW

What a crucial game. A game that could decide the fate of one of these nations. With Brazil still being the favourite to win the group, Serbia and Switzerland will most likely battle for a spot in R16 here. A win for Serbia and they’re through, a win for Switzerland and they’re about 85% through as Serbia would have to face Brazil last while Swiss got Costa Rica. A massive game here, you could argue Serbia need a win more because a draw would favour Switzerland given the final fixtures for both sides.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 – Japan vs Senegal PREVIEW

Well well well, who would’ve thought that these two would be top of the group after the first fixture? Both came in to their games as underdogs and both won, Japan beat Colombia while Senegal beat Poland by the same score of 2-1. It wasn’t much of a surprise that either team won, but the fact that both of them actually won is a little surprising. Both sides will be looking to win and a win here for either side puts them in a fantastic position to advance.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 – Saudi Arabia vs Egypt PREVIEW

Both sides have already disappointingly bowed out of the world cup with 2 losses out of two. However we can expect both of them to still to put in a good shift because no one knows when’s the next time Saudi Arabia and Egypt will make it to the world cup so this could be the last world cup for either side for years to come so picking up a win is important. It’s a game where both will be playing for pride more than anything else.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 – Uruguay vs Russia PREVIEW

Both Uruguay and Russia have already qualified to the next round. While Uruguay done it playing uninspiring but effective football, Russia have done it playing some of the most exciting football of the tournament. However, it doesn’t matter how you get there as long as you and both teams are tied with 6 points. Russia have the goal difference advantage, but Uruguay could still take 1st place with a win. It’s going to be a matchup between two styles of football. Will Uruguay’s defensive style pull through, or will Russia edge them with exciting attacking football they’ve shown so far. Uruguay have the better talent, Russia have the home support.
