There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

what this conference a flop? They wanted to get 2,000 attendance... yet the media blackout makes me question whether they got even 100.

Free Talk Live broadcasted from the conference and you can listen to their shows from both Sat and Sun at https://www.freetalklive.com/. They interviewed any and all interesting parties at the convention and discussed what everyone was working on. They also recapped the show on last night's show when they were back into NH.

I wasn't aware there was going to be a Texas Conference, when did you see the announcement?
It was basically a Factom pump conference.

You didn't miss much.
