it's already not allowed from the start. it's just something went wrong and user was able to upload .gif avatars, buy theymos already fixed it and removed the existing .gif avatars.

Yeah, I don't like the animated avatars,too.Because some people will put these flashy animated avatars!

Keep them deactivated (gifs in avatars).

no one knows when. I think theymos will fix it as soon as he goes online.

anyway just quit complaining, people. we never used avatars for a long time, few more hours of waiting wouldn't be a problem, right?

It was scheduled to be today but likely due to the ddos attack it might be a bit late.

well, now we know that removing and re-uploading the avatars will not work. tried it and I ended up with this insulting avatar instead

Yes of course, this is the "april fool" it is normal that you are saying two different typology of avatar (also if you go to your PM inbox, you will see the real avatar of the other users).

Avatars are working normally now.

There are a small handful of people who had an animated avatar before this new system. I'm not going to remove those, but if they update their avatars then animation won't be possible.

That could be true, also maybe he was planning to change it at a certain time but then there was a ddos attack and he went to bed or something.
