Does it matter if I use a 10/100 switch for mining or do I need a gigabit.

10Mb is more than enough.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

The miners only sends&receives only few kb per second!

As said above even an 10megabit switch is more than enough Wink

You'd likely be losing more when the packets hit your ISP connection than your router. Most ISP connections (even cable and FiOS or something similar) are like 5-8 Mbps, once the signal is split out among everyone in your neighborhood.

I don't know if this is true yet.  A lot of places at this point have fiber and you can get 50+ on speed.   My town is not the most technological yet they have ran fiber through the whole town.

But either way no miner needs that kinda speed.   They use very little bandwidth.

Very true... I just did a speed test and it looks like I'm getting 30mbps down and 6 up. The upload speed is where it would matter.
