A Chinese naval frigate has evacuated 225 foreign citizens from strife-torn Yemen, its foreign ministry said, marking the first time that China's military has helped other countries evacuate their people during an international crisis. Ten different nationalities were among the evacuees picked up on Thursday afternoon from Aden, Yemen's second city, and transported to Djibouti, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on its website late Thursday.
...
Violence has been spreading across Yemen since last year, when Iran-backed Shi'ite Houthi fighters seized the capital, Sanaa, and effectively removed President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. A Saudi-led coalition has hit the rebels with air strikes over the past week. A state television report on Friday showed evacuees, who were mostly Pakistani, arriving in Djibouti.

"We are really thankful to the Chinese government, who really helped us, and took us out (with) the school children," one woman told China Central Television. The broadcaster showed footage young children stepping off a Chinese warship waving Chinese flags, and in one case, kissing a seaman on the cheek. The evacuation of foreigners bolsters China's image at home and abroad, according to Shen Dingli, an international relations professor at Fudan University in Shanghai.

"We wouldn't look very good if we have the capacity to help others but no heart to do it," Shen said.  "Now we look really good," he added.

China isn't involved in any kind of war . They are just taking the Chinese citizens living in Yemen out of there .

Yeah but they've actually done something, the Chinese are far more careful about getting involved internationally than America.

I think the US evacuated their special forces awhile back.  So if it's not safe for those guys, can't blame China wanting to get their civilians out.

Russia is also evacuating - at least the wives and children of the embassy workers. The planae evacuated not only Russian, but also Polish, Ukrainian, and Tadjik citizens.

Foreign countries thank Russia for evacuating their citizens from Yemen

Noticeably, the evacuation could happen only on the third attempt. The first two time the civilian planes were intercepted by Saudi fighters and headed off.

Russia evacuating Ukrainian citizens is understandable.  Grin

The Kiev junta no longer cares about its own people. It is currently waging a war against its own people, trying to divide the Eastern Ukrainians and Western Ukrainians. Unofficial sources say that some 50,000 to 100,000 people have died there so far.

The act by Russia is commendable.

Also Singapore:

SINGAPORE - Singapore has sought Oman's assistance in evacuating Singaporeans from conflict-torn Yemen if necessary, according to a press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday. Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli made this request while he was visiting the neighbouring Oman this week to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

It was reported early this week that a Singaporean woman and her four children were among the foreigners seeking evacuation from Aden, Yemen, as fighting between Iranian-backed Houthi militia and a Saudi-led coalition continued to escalate. They are on their way home on a Chinese frigate which was deployed by Beijing to assist in the evacuation of foreign nationals from Yemen.

Two more Russian planes evacuated 350 people today. 70 are Russian citizens, the rest are from Egypt, Cuba, Syria and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)

Two flights with 662 Indians arrived from Yemen today.
The Indian Navy is also helping in evacuations.

India might be evacuating nationals from Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives.etc as well. (That is the general norm). Approx. 3,000 to 5,000 Indians live in Yemen. Evacuating all of them might be impossible.

True. The South Asian neighbors seem to be helping each other. A Pakistani naval ship helped evacuate 11 Indians from Yemen yesterday.

Approx. 3,000 to 5,000 Indians live in Yemen. Evacuating all of them might be impossible.

The number of Indians in Yemen is much higher. According to Times of India, there are ~100,000 Indians in Yemen.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/hyderabad/Yemen-crisis-Need-for-a-comprehensive-evacuation-plan/articleshow/46818078.cms
India has maintained excellent relations across almost all ruling tribes with its offer of humanitarian aid and support in crucial areas. About 100,000 Indians are working in different parts of Yemen. But, unfortunately India did not see the war coming. Therefore, it does not have a comprehensive plan to evacuate its workforce.

Meanwhile, America has completely abandoned all Yemeni-Americans living in Yemen.

Guess they will just be left to rot. Great job Obama!

What is our government good for again? They won't even help you get out of a country that they are helping to bomb.

The situation is complex. Since the US is supporting the bombardment, the Shiites won't allow any American naval ships near Aden. So the US needs to evacuate its citizens by using another country's naval ship.
