When I buy something with bitcoins or someone offers me his help, I always give generous amounts of btc.
Not only because they were kind and fast delivering or answering. It's because other people have give me also some extra coins.
It's to make the BTC community a generous community and a better place.

I'll send 2 free bitcents each to the next 5 people who post an address. As long as you promise to use them for good, not evil.
Or any generous soul is welcome to send me some BTC at 18i8sD4CBRENyhv2R1kNSQc8cvz6YRur9t

That was fast! Thanks again!
I'll probably save it up for something on GLBSE.

I believe they are somewhat stimulating the bitcoin economy by giving small amounts of coins.
But I'm no expert in this field.

It's easier to give like 0.001 BTC than 0.001$.

I have been giving away small amounts of bitcoin almost since day one, 2-1/2 years ago.
My motivation is to allow people to test their clients and get a feel for using bitcoin. This promotes the concept generally. Better someone see first hand that bitcoin confirmation takes time and not be panicked when their first substantial trade is not confirmed instantly.
Since a bitcoin is so very divisible, even a tiny amount can be used to make many test spends. Hence, I give people tiny amounts to play with as a learning aid.
I have also given to charity because I support the cause, but that's another motivation entirely.

Karma isn't really a part of it. Maybe it's faded some now as it has become more mainstream but my story is pretty much the same as anyone else's that's been using it for a while. I realised I'm getting this huge amount of software for nothing and most of it is made by individuals spending a bit of time writing it and improving it and fixing it when it's broke. After a while it gets to you, your getting all this free stuff and you want to give something back. I learned a bit of programming (not much good at it :/ ), others help out with translations, it all adds up to things like linux, apachi, firefox etc.
I sent wormbog that 5c earlier, it was part of what I made investing in a company on GLBSE as a dividend, the guy who made the company saved a lot because he didn't have to get a bank loan and pay interest to set up in business... it all goes around and everyone is better off for it.
What company was that?

I think people are so kind giving away lots of coins free, why don't they just keep then and use them?
Do you mean the sites that give away 0.0001 BTC? That is only worth 1/10 of a cent and they get paid when people click on the ads.

People who are into bitcoins what the system to thrive. I've never even owned a single whole bitcoin, but I still give back to the faucet sites that helped me out. And.....a "bitcoin future" would be breathtaking to see unfold.
Yes, I think I'd agree, it really would be breathtaking to see bitcoin become mainstream - just imagine waking up one morning to find all the banks have failed because Bitcoin took off so much! I think the human race would be very happy (at least for the day!)
