Anyone that accepts Bitcoin is A-OK in my book. F#ck the issues! lol I hear ya. I wish he were running as an Independent tho, I'll never vote Republican even if they promise to make bitcoin the national currency and give a free pet monkey to every US citizen. Seriously tho move this thread to politics forum. Done! I know how you feel, as I've always voted Democrat for some reason, but that last few terms have left a bad taste in my mouth, so I can't really support any political party really. At the end of the day, all these parties will screw you one day, whether it'd be taxes, new laws, social reform, or otherwise. I'm just deciding to vote with my wallet.dat now!

I'll be rooting for Rand when you guys have your elections, though From what I read of his position, he seems like a decent and reasonable fella. Not as good as his father, but definitely better than the alternatives.

I also saw a cool item he was using to raise money that slid in front of a laptop camera so it could not "spy" on you. The main problem I see is just like his farther I think he will have some of the young vote, show up in a few debates. But in the end he will drop out as not to get near the level needed to be a main candidate. Like him or not that is just my prediction.

It will be quite hard for him to win the GOP primary. The establishment republicans will make sure that he never wins the nomination. Right now the Libertarian section of the GOP is not that strong. In case he is somehow able to secure the nomination, then he stands a good chance against Hillary Clinton.

Not as good as his father, but definitely better than the alternatives. Democrats and Republicans are different in a few things. Mostly when it comes to social issues. But when money and business are involved, both parties do what they're told. And Rand has been moving a lot to the right. Probably just to get past the primary but doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Would also prefer he ran as an Independent. I really like that he is accepting bitcoin. I also saw a cool item he was using to raise money that slid in front of a laptop camera so it could not "spy" on you.
So, duct tape?

So, duct tape? No it was a plastic slider. It appeared to work on a mac. It's just a fundraiser item.

I'm quite surprised to see this. When I've read the title I was expecting some wall of text explaining why. This picture is the right reason. I can't believe that someone running for president would be endorsing Bitcoin already.

Well, if he legalizes Bitcoin within the entire U.S, it would be a big thing amirite? I think that this could technically fit in this section and the bitcoin discussion section.

I would argue bitcoin is already legal in US. There are aspects such as selling it you have to follow laws like KYC on sites such as coinbase. It just has not been widely accepted as far as stores. But there are some cards coming out that will allow you to spend BTC like fiat which would make it pretty easy to do.

But I am sure that current establishment would not allow to independent candidate to win. Democrats and republicans alike will unite and destroy everything that could lead US to abandonment the road US is currently walking.

The President of the United States alone can't take steps for the legalization of Bitcoin. For that you need majority support from the House, as well as that from the Senate. Right now, most of the representatives there are from the establishment section of the GOP. They will make sure that any such measure is not taken up during his term, if he becomes the POTUS.

Yes, US president can't do this alone, but he can initiate such process. Of course, US presidents wins the Office of the President because of the support of powerful lobbies, including banks, so it is not likely that any US president will propose something contrary to the interests of those who give it its support. It is a sad reality of modern politics.

Third-party votes are a waste in a majority two-party-dominated system when dealing with U.S. presidential elections. It might make you feel better, but that's nearly all it's ever going to do unless your only objective is "awareness" or something vague like that.

He needs to finish first in both Iowa and New Hampshire to build genuine momentum. Florida is a large early primary and he has little chance of winning there.

I know it's a pipe dream that Rand would actually win the Republican presidential nomination...but who knows. If the other candidates somehow underwhelm, maybe he has a fighter's chance of moving on beyond the primaries. Go Rand Go! Take BTC with you to the top!

I don't think he even cares about bitcoin, he just cares about the $ the bitcoins are worth. If he truly supported bitcoin and wanted to promote it he would have a personal bitcoin address and accept bitcoin and not $ . Bitpay just instantly converts the bitcoin people donate to rand paul in $ which is really bad for bitcoin.
