Coinbase recently announced their second Bitcoin Hackathon competetion. There are up to $70,000 of prizes for applications that use bitcoin and/or blockchain technology. The competetion ends on May 19th, 2015 at 11:59 PST. You can check out the full details here: https://developers.coinbase.com/bithack

Note: I am not affiliated with Coinbase. I thought that I should just let everyone know about this new competetion.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Hope we'll get to see some cool applications come out of this. Preferably some open source projects, maybe some platforms or APIs we can use.

I'm about to apply to this if anyone is interesting in joining me (or maybe I'll make a new thread?).  If anyone has any suggestions on what you'd like to see created, please please let me know!  So far I'm thinking of creating something similar to the old ClearCoin service, or at the very least some platform to bring 3rd party escrow servicers to buyers/sellers and vice versa.

We have another sort-of discussion on this here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1012569.0;all

I'd _really_ like to hear some more input with some ideas and hopefully form a team Smiley
