Rambaud believes that “most large merchants” in the US are currently looking into accepting bitcoin as payment, and that the reasons go far deeper than the publicity that can be gained.

My optimistic ego says "Well, eventually all internet users will use BTC at some point, it's inevitable", while my pessimistic side says "yes, maybe, but will happen within the next 100 years"

Simply the fact that more and more small/big/huge names are looking at bitcoin is a huge progress though. I can't stop thinking just 2-3 years ago, most discussions were centered around the idea "is US and other major countries going to ban bitcoin"? Now the tone is a lot different, BTC gain legitimacy and really smart people (I'm not one of them) are looking into ways to make it accessible and secure to even the dumbest potential users.

I don't agree. The fiat can be used as illegal things, such as drug, porn, crime etc. Comparing with bitcoin, fiat money is used by nearly all of criminals. Does it stop the popularity of fiat money? I don't think so.

Everyone probably thought the same about the internet. I don't think it's as bad as the article makes out but sure the general public are still a little uninformed and weary. They'll come around eventually. I just think it will take time but once they see Wall Street and start-ups getting involved and hearing the stories how it is saving people money in fees such as the remittance market they'll quickly change their mind.

I avoided BTC at the beginning because it was indeed linked to criminal activity. This made me lose the opportunity to make thousands in BTC, or even millions!

Stupid bad publicity.

This is actually a pertinent point in my opinion. The masses may ignore bitcoin because of their lack of understanding on the matter, but if/when it goes mainstream - which I'm pretty sure it will eventually - they will regret their ignorance then for sure and the missed opportunity to make a lot of money.

This is like asking, in 1994, if it will take 100 years for the internet to blow up. The answer is no, it will not. Fiat money doesn't have 100 years to live, it will be lucky to see 2025.

Only one thing stands between Bitcoin and mass adoption: time, but not much of it.
