undervolt 5850

anyone have any info on undervolting 5850's? I decided to give it a shot to reduce the electric bill and lower the heat given off but Im having some issues. I cant get them stable at even stock clocks! Is it really worth it? What clocks do you run undervolted? how far did you undervolt?

My 5850 ran at 865/300/1.000.

If you go down to .0950, you are not going to get stock speeds. Try 675/300/0.95, and see if that works. Every card is different, so you man have to go lower, or you may be capable of much higher.

I did some calculations before I started and based on that I wanted to try but after doing the same calculations again I get a different result. That plus the hassle makes me think I'll just stick with my overclocked/stock voltage settings. I had seen posts of a few people getting 875mhz on .95v on a 5870, i figured a 5850 could do similar but notmine... lol

875 on 0.95? That sounds almost impossible! My 5870 got 925 @ 1.00V, and 725 @ 0.95.

My go to is 785 at 1.02 volts you can sometimes go higher than that. This works on pretty much every 5800 series card out there

I highly doubt it was at 1.00v. It was likely at 1.063v, which is the next voltage step in many 5870 bios's.

I don't have the card anymore, but CGMiner was setting the V to 0.953, which if I recall bumps the V to the next highest "step", which was 1.000.
