Canceled, sorry. After working on it and nearly completing the software I decided I'm not confident in my ability to run this properly right now. For one thing, I'm a US citizen and many casinos are closing out people with my passport. Wink For another thing, I'm not sure that the Minetest software is secure enough to meet the requirements.

Hello,

I'm pre-announcing a project I'm working on to gauge interest in it.

I'm not sure how many people here remember BitVegas, but it was a very fun casino due to the social aspect. It was a casino built entirely in Minecraft. It had Blackjack, Roulette, and Horse (pig) racing.

Unfortunately, it was hacked. Then, Mojang made casinos against the Minecraft rules, killing the project.

I say, fuck Mojang, so I am creating a clone of BitVegas in Minetest. There is no Mojang to kill this project.

I plan to launch it in May, at first it will only have roulette, but I will add blackjack and horse racing if time permits. I would launch it sooner but I'm going to Thailand next week so won't have time to develop it.

The casino won't have a very big pot to start out (because I don't have a lot of coins), so bets will be low at first. Hopefully if it's profitable that will not matter.

Please let me know what you think about this, especially if you remember BitVegas.

I'm not at a stage yet where I'm taking investments. That can start once the server launches and you try it out.

Also, although I don't have much feedback here on BTCtalk, I also own the semi-popular site 8chan and have a Wikipedia article. I don't expect to do this anonymously.

It's a regular Minetest server with a casino Lua extension I'm writing.

also i dont think its a good idea to do what mojang doesnt allow

I would agree with you if this were a Minecraft server, but it's a Minetest server, a game that has nothing to do with Mojang, so their opinions don't matter.

Yep, 3D casino games just like the old BitVegas. You can chat with other players too because it's like Minecraft. The only things disabled will be interacting with the environment (punching blocks, placing blocks, etc). Players will be able to fly and run to see the board better.

There will be some other minor differences from BitVegas's roulette due to the different game engines. For example, your bet is going to be placed on where you stand on the board, not by clicking on the board.

Meh. I say don't waste your time. Do you even have a bankroll to start with or are you going to try to find investors?

The server will start with a pot of 20 of my own BTC. If people invest it will make high stakes bets possible faster, but if not I can set the max bet low and just wait.

I'm doing this because I miss BitVegas and there are no alternatives around right now. I gambled there quite a bit a few years ago.

If it turns out to be a complete waste of time I'll open source it and move on with my life anyway Cheesy I can get initial players by advertising on the site I own though (8chan) so don't count it out yet.

I made a lot more progress than I expected today:

I'll be back in a week to finish it and launch it. Expect a launch by May 15.

why do you think 20 BTC is such a joke? since I thought it could be a good bankroll to start since the OP will opening investment feature which I believe will gain alot of attraction since this is different from the other sites, there are many sites that got lower bankroll at the start so a 20 BTC is actually decent for starting point

Uh oh, pedophiles have used Bitcoin before! Better sell all your holdings! You go first.

I wonder how much "diggit.io's #1 investor" is being paid to try to stop any competing casino from opening?  Grin

LMAO, i am just wondering how many he invests in diggit.io too, 20BTC bankroll is good, so don't be frustrated when other say anything negative. Just focus on your coding and designing. It's not easy to code a 3D casino, it's a tough job.

He has invested 400+ BTC into diggit.io and thats the only site we know that he invested in, he could have invested in another site as well but there isnt any proof to that

Nice. Straight away accusing your competition of gross malpractice and anticompetitive behaviour. Coupled with the pedophilia, you don't seem like a nutcase at all. /s

So it will require you to enter the minecraft world to be able to play? By doing it you are greatly reducing the number of players, because a casino should be easily accessible. Now think how many bitcoiners and gamblers are also Minecraft fans? How many of them will be willing to start a client and enter a world just to play instead of entering an online casino right away?
I also agree that 20BTC may not be enough to start a casino, unless you set a low maximum bet.
