(all under the assumption that pirate's business is shorting) Pirate probably benefits by the selling, given that it's likely most of his assets are in USD and he's trying to convert to BTC at a lower price than he sold at. If he has enough BTC, it's a straight profit leaving market considerations aside. And, if the recipient sells, then he has a chance of picking a few more coins up back at a low price |
