I apologize if I am creating this topic in the incorrect forum, but I didn't know where else to ask this question. I figured bitcointalk.org would be the best place to ask this question, since most of you seem to value the security of your information. What is, in your opinion, the best Antivirus Protection or Antivirus Software for a Mac? Preferably for a reasonable price, free would be even better.
Thank you in advance.

If you don't have money then go for avast! Antivirus It is free and it is quite usable. But if you want to invest then go for eset security but it isn't so cheap.

I'd think probably recommend ClamXav too - it is free. It probably isn't needed, but if you are worried, it will do a good scan. LittleSnitch is a good tool too. (And I think this is the wrong forum). ;-)

TBH I don't really use any sort of antivirus software on my Mac, it's absolutely unnecessary. Though AVG did provide some utility tools which were for cleaner, and removing duplicate items. The best advices I would give you, would be to turn your firewall on, set the appropriate settings, and login password for your mac

Free edition anti virus mostly can be download anywhere but provide a lower protection. You can try to buy Kaspersky, The most advance AntiVirus I've ever met. So many feature that choose from advance virus scanning until parental guide ( preventing your child to open prohibited site )

Good day, MrGreenHat,
To be honest. OS X is rather sandboxed system, which as a rule doesn't require additional protection if is being used properly. Modern antiviruses has two scan modes, generally: heuristic and signature database. The last is based upon the own antivirus database. The first one may be not so efficient, to be short, if someone tries to do his best in exploiting your PC he has potentially high chances irrespective of if you use any additional protection or not. We would advice only to not rely solely on antivirus. In majority of cases any protection would be odd if you make everything with particular caution.

I didn't know that MAc also has virus ? Yeah, Mac OS, just as any other operating system out there, are vulnerable to viruses. Windows is the most vulnerable. Mac, due to their Unix based OS, contain several safeguards build right in. It also contains Gatekeeper, which prevents apps that has not been digitally signed and approved from Apple from being installed. But there are no systems that have no security flaws, so Macs can be prone to viruses as well. Linux is considered the safest, with many reasons behind it. Just search it up; there are too many reasons. Back to the question, I highly recommend Little Snitch for all Mac users. This is a program that helps identify and block specific programs from transferring data between you and them (you do it manually). Pretty much a network monitor. This program goes well along with any antivirus, but I'd say Sophos Antivirus for Mac is one of the best. Avast is also good, but not as good as Sophos in my opinion.

Since more and more people use a Mac computer, it's becoming more popular to hack a Mac I use Bitdefender antivirus for my Mac. This is one of the best antivirus at the moment. You can download a 30 day trial here http://[Suspicious link removed]/1yvOy3K
