First, people ARE artificial intelligence. Only God is the real intelligence.
Let's try not to get religious. It can get quite messy. Good idea. After all, only God is intelligent enough to understand the truth about religion anyway. Stop it.

An economy based on endless growth is unsustainable.

If I was robot and to chose the currency that would be no other than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is still at early stages and needs to be discovered. It is biggest creation of man in last 500 years which will change all financial structure in coming years.

I would have wanted anonymity more than the currency itself, so I would have gone for the bitcoin. Because of the anonymous nature of the bitcoin, makes it easy for me to buy several things.

I am a big advocate of the 'singularity' described by Ray Kurzweil. In his book he describes a future where artificial intelligence is not only part of your daily routine, but also your biology.
I have been thinking a lot about this and wonder if these new AI beings would accept traditional currencies or would only 'trust' the reliability of the blockchain.
What do you think?
I would think that money would become irrelevant in a post-singularitarian world. Money exists because we have limited goods and resources. A post-singularitarian economy would be a post-scarcity economy, and so the need for money would no longer exist. Also, I predict that the sci-fi scenario of humans and machines being equal in intelligence will only last a year or two at most. Once machines become equal in intelligence to us, almost immediately they will become much better. After another year or so, the divide between machines and modern-day humans would resemble the divide between humans and cats or dogs today (remember: Moore's law breaks down after the singularity). Humans probably won't go extinct. Rather, advancements in bio-engineering (or more specifically, the convergence of biology, computer science, and nanoscience) would mean that the distinction between man and machine will cease to exist.

They might start off with a store of energy, like batteries. Primitive civilizations used food (grains) as a store of value.

Hey guyz, I've stumbled this news today, I think it's related to this topic A robot given $100 a week in bitcoins to buy whatever it wanted from the deep web, has purchased a Hungarian passport, a baseball cap fixed with a hidden camera, fake Diesel jeans, a stash can, 200 Chesterfield cigarettes and 10 yellow pills containing 90mg of MDMA each. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/technology/robot-that-bought-mdma-passport-and-baseball-cap-released-by-authorities-31150495.htmlConclusion: that's a bad idea to give an AI robot bitcoin they spend money on they can't use.

As a smart robot I'd only accept Bitcoin of course. Only currency that my assets can't be frozen by a credit card company, plus I'd be able to send and receive money with ease instead of waiting days for bank transfers etc.

What would an artificial intelligence robot need money for? And what made you ask this question? Are you going to build one?
