how to ban people from talking a on thread

I want to make a thread, but I want it to be civil and not trolled.  Is there someway to ban trolls from a thread?

that gives me sense of peace for sure and I like it, but it doesn't help the newbies that can't see FUD from truth. 

I am all for criticism and self reflection and even hate.  But flat out lies and attempts to hurt a project I think should be defended against.

Create a Self-Moderated thread which you have already done, With this type of thread you can delete the FUD posts or reply. You can't ban anyone only Admins can do that.
