GLBSE is upgrading their Bitcoin client

Recently I bought my first shares on the GLBSE. Not having used them before I am concerned about security as normally I follow the rule "don't give anyone your bitcoin".

Today I noticed on the site: "Deposits and withdrawals are delayed, we've installed a new version of the bitcoin client which requires us to download the blockchain. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Given that 0.6.3 came out June 25th, but the vulnerability was fully disclosed yesterday (CVE-2012-2459, block merkle calculation exploit: https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=102395) is it possible they waited this long to upgrade? That makes me a bit nervous.

Also is https://glbse.com/info/security blank for everyone?

Not trying to attack GLBSE here, as this is speculation, just wondering what others are thinking... Thanks!

Because the vulnerability that was fixed could result in a "stuck" or corrupt blockchain if a malicious entity felt like jamming a screwdriver in the gears.

Yes. Looks like a poor maintenance decision. You'd think someone would compile the new client and test it while the old one is serving the website. After testing you make a swap.

The incompatibility is likely to come from the DB version.

Why is it taking so long? I'm getting this message for about 9 hours now! On my machine the blockchain is downloaded within 3 hours or less and it's NOT a server in a datacenter.

Anyway finished now and deposits/withdrawals are going through as normal.
