So basically, Bitcoin is not banned in Russia and the OP is trying to spread FUD? Is that correct?
Correct. Bitcoin is not banned. Even if we looking in wikipedia, then we will see that the first sentence is based on plans which didn't come yet. There is no law inhibitory so far, or regulating cryptocurrencies in Russia.

In Soviet Russia, Bitcoin bans you! Could care less if they do or don't, they're so behind the technology curve when it comes to Crypto, that it doesn't even matter. Seems strange, since their neighbors pretty much dominate the space.

Wonder what will happen with BTC-E Wonder what will happen with BTC-E, the exchange based in Bulgaria? I'm going to guess nothing, since Russia banning Bitcoin has nothing to do with BTC-E's operation.

I believe with the ongoing world-wide political tensions, Bitcoin can only strengthen Russia and create a better quality of life for it's citizens.

They can ban Bitcoins the same way everything else gets banned in Russia... A currency that is not directly controlled by national banking cartels poses a threat to the Russian government.

Banning decentralized technologies in countries only make them more used on there. For example, freenet is banned in china, and china is the highest freenet node supporter. Mr Putin should give up and embrace Bitcoin.

I heard that Russia bans Bitcoin because they're think Bitcoin could being a way to terrorism transactions (CMIIW) That's funny considering the government turns a blind eye to hackers or mob that attack western companies.

I heard that Russia bans Bitcoin because they're think Bitcoin could being a way to terrorism transactions (CMIIW) Russia banned Bitcoin because the Ruble exchange rate was going down steeply, and the government thought that people will rush to convert their rubles to Bitcoin. Terrorism financing was not a major concern. The government knew that right now Bitcoin is not an attractive financing option for various terrorist groups.
