I would say it is Litecoin (not counting Namecoin which can be merge mined), that has the largest adoption vs BTC right now.

I don't know why you need an alternative of bitcoins but there are few for you. Example would be litecoins and namecoins.

The more popular ones seem to be namecoin and litecoin.
