Whoa!!!
Just about time that a manufacture released a new product.
This miner is going to be BIG!
Since this uses the same chips as the S3. Can the S3 be downclocked to run at a similar efficiency? 0.58J/GH ?
Also I think this should be put in bold
1. The included PSU cannot be used in countries with a mains power voltage lower than 205V. The PSU will not start below this voltage.
Pretty much has no market in North America then.

Looks like the board design and PSU guys did all the work, and ASIC guys sat this one out. Interesting set of choices. They must have ordered a bunch of BM1382 parts. The yields on those must be pretty good.
Did I miss the price in this announcement, or is that only available on the ordering page?

For the same price, you can have 3xS5, more efficient and hashing at 3400-3500 GH. Bad timing to release this one, or the price should be dropped under 640$.
S2 upgrade kits with BM1384 would have been better right now, or some kind of S6.

Antminer S5: $340 for 1155 Ghash, which is $294 per Thash at 0.51W/Ghash
New Antminer S4+: $946 for 2570 Ghash, which is $368 per Thash at 0.58W/Ghash
What am I missing? New miner is released which is less efficient but the price per Ghash is higher? The difference is more then $70 per Thash, definetly not worth the PSU you get with it...

You can always use any server PSU, and this one (stock PSU) - sold it to someone who need it or try to ask Bitmain to ship S4 without PSU. I would prefer to buy it without PSU in any case (less shipping price, more freedom to choose reliable and powerful PSU for overclocking). But with such a price, with such a BTC price, I have serious doubts that I will buy it ever...

You will need to provide a PSU for each or both those S5... S2 upgrade kits with BM1384 would have been better right now, or some kind of S6.
Yeah... We are still waiting while Bitmain keep silence... And may be they will continue to keep silence since S4+ should be sold...

I agree with you, a DPS2000BB with fans and breakout board will cost roughly 100$, can power 3x S5 and can be used with your next gen miner.

The reason why its more expensive then a couple of S5's is because it has the PSU included. And its almost as efficient as an S5.
An 1500W PSU is what? At least $200-250 ?
So price seems about right.

I think that is a little bit unfair. It won't be a miner that you would put in your front room sure. But some home miners are lucky. I know I am working on a summer mining area. Pretty much let me start from scratch and do what I wanted. I will have at least 1 220 in it for fun. Many could easily add 220 for mining. Sure it is not as convenient as 110 for many.

The S4+ is 13.7% less efficient then the S5 if you compare the W/Ghash. 2570 Ghash of S5 miners: $340 / 1155Ghash * 2570Ghash = $756.54 2570 Ghash of the S4+ miner: $946 * 1.137 (Efficiency difference) = $1075.60 Price difference with the Efficiency difference included: $319.06 That is quite an overpriced PSU then, and the extra weight the S4+ has will make shipping more expensive aswell So much for a new miner... Hooray!
