Hey all.

First off, I would like to thank you all for helping a n00b with these issues.. I am sure they are simple but not for me.

I am having an issue with my Antminer S3... for the past two days it seems to be hashing along just fine then it will go completely silent. the green light on the front will be off and it seems the miner shuts down. Any suggestions?

Also, I am using wifi with the miner at the moment. I am wanting to use ethernet rather than wifi.. how do I safely switch it to the ethernet from wifi? (The Antminer page is foreign to me)

Thank you all in advance!

what is the address of your miner?  192.168.1.xxx or 192.168.0.xxx or ?

once you know the address the rest moves along well.

Is fan frequency high and when it become silent, is it too hot?

I haven't used S3, so I don't know about it. Haven't you tried normal way of using ethernet? Connect when it is off and them switch on it?

Any thoughts anyone?

you need a lan cable for ethernet first(preferably not below "cat 5"), then see if there is a "1" in the ip(192.168.1.2 for example)

Plug ethernet cable from your router to the miner. You will access the dashboard on a computer on your home network as you did to set up your pool information on wireless. I have never ran my S3's on wireless but it should be work better on the cable from what I have read.

I have noticed that the fan is running at a higher rate when it shuts down... I was thinking it was getting too hot. I cannot seem to figure out how to change the clock speed... I havent tampered with the clock speed but when I got it i bought it used... So whoever was using it before it is still set at that clock speed.

You need to log into the miner and see what's it's doing when it "shuts down".  Is is still mining?  Is it overheating?

What frequency is it at right now?  There's a drop down menu in miner config to set the frequency.

Not sure what you are looking to do.

S-3 to laptop to router to  internet   is not a normal setup.

below  are more standard

S-3 to ethernet switch to  router to internet

S-3 to router to internet

Sounds like you are

laptop- wifi- router- internet.

you could do

s-3 to wi fi bridge -router-internet

let me find a link

and maybe your idea is possible if your laptop has a  wifi bridge(most likely no)

I never did this item below but it may work

http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Dreambox-Network-Printer-Microsoft/dp/B005OIB6XI/ref=sr_1_8?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1435419618&sr=8-8&keywords=wifi+bridge&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011

you would

A) use your laptop with a cat 5 cable directly to the s-3
B) program the s-3 via the gui to  use the bridge

this is all beyond my pay grade in that I never done it ,but have read posts here and there on this site that talk about it.
