I am wondering if anyone might have had similar problems to me.

I have 3 X avalon NANO USB's which should do about 3.6GHS.

Now i can get one working, and running for days on end at about 2GHS. This is plugged direct into the USB socket.

Then if i get my powered USB, and plug all 3 in - I can get them all working together, but after a few hours or so they all slow down to virtually nothing, and if i leave it over night they go down to 0GHS. They still appear to be running, but i can see in BFminer its not hashing, but connected to the pool.

In BFminer, it says its doing a few GHS in total, but nothing is really happening and when i check the mining pool it says 0 GHS and no shares are being submitted.

So i was wondering if anyone has had any similar problems. I am guessing the powered USB is not sending enough power? I do see that 2 of them power up fairly strong and one is always a bit weaker, doing less GHs.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you cooling them appropiately with a USB fan or so? USB mining sticks can get really hot, specially if you are connecting those 3 beasts very close to each other. If overheated, maybe they would be disconnecting for security.

There is a recent thread of the Avalon Nano here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1022764.0 But I am sure Notlist3D will appear soon with help over here ;-)

Thanks for point out my thread Smiley

Yes with 3 of these you will need some sort fan to blow air between them. They just get hot when running to their full potential.  If you touch one after 5 minutes or so of mining it is hot too the touch on heatshield.

I used the GUI that is backed by bfgminer backend you can see over here it working  - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1022764.0  bumped incase you need it.

The only problem is I don't know how much power each one nano takes.  So I would try one on the powered hub see if it's stable.  Run for a few hours make sure you are not losing hash.  Then add a second one and do same thing, and finally the third. (I am running on cautious side you could do it with less time between adding another nano to hub)

While it might be obvious, also space them out across the sockets on the hub to allow more air circulation between the sticks. Some hubs have the sockets VERY close together. All stick miners need a high quality hub, adequate spacing and some airflow, even the original Block Erupters.

Late reply... apologies.

It may be obvious, but I think you are under-powered.  The USB spec says USB ports with data are supposed to be 4.45V to 5.25V and USB 3 devices can consume 900 mA. (ref 1)

So.. If you have all 3 connected to a powered USB 3 hub with a blue connector, then you need to ensure that the hub has at least a 15W power supply on it.

If you want to open them up, there seems to be some data that implies they will draw as much as 1900 mA.  That is rather alarming considering that some cheap USB hubs might be rated for 1900 mA. (ref 2)

I'll try to buy one of these soon with a "USB Charge Doctor" to measure the voltage. (ref 3)

PS. I don't work for Amazon, Avalon or Brett inc.

I used this to measure a stick

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J3JSEG6?

meter looks nice and it flips stick so tweaking stick is easy

Are u using nice or westhash??

If so update ur miner for extra nonce...

Other wise u'll need to run a stratum server otherwise it times out..
