Hollywood Studio Lionsgate Films in Talks to Accept Bitcoin

http://www.coindesk.com/hollywood-studio-lionsgate-films-in-talks-to-accept-bitcoin/

I normally don't post CD articles in here, but I found this one quite interesting. What exactly are they doing with Bitcoin? Can you buy their movies for BTC or something?

That's what you get if people write things up without trying to get more information, a half-assed story.

Then again, maybe even Lionsgate themselves don't know how they will use it yet....

I just noticed that it mentions an online store, probably this one: https://www.lionsgateshop.com – looks like you can order their movies on BluRay there.

sound like good innovation, but in my opinion should not only for the film but also to  live stream sporting events such as soccer, basketball, boxing, etc.

This shows that there is a wide variety of industries with a certain interest in offering Bitcoin as payment option. Great news.

This doesn't do much for me at this point as we're already use to certain places coming on board to accept bitcoin. I won't give a crap unless each one accepting it gives a discount because of the benefits it offers as a payment option. Yet, having bigger outfits like major chain stores and big corporations accepting it is a boost because it drives much news about bitcoin. I'm not spending my coinage for garbage especially if they don't hook me up for it.

The thing is, they deal in digital property...movies. The blockchain has untapped potential for offering proof of ownership for digital goods. I have been waiting for progress in this area. Also, it could represent billions in transactions.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that Frank Giustra, the founder of Lionsgate, is also a mining industry billionaire? I believe he's fairly libertarian and an advocate for returning to a gold based monetary system.
