"A quick soak in your gastric juices turns the pioneering pill on, triggering it to transmit an 18-bit, EKG-like signal from your insides. The ingestible micro computer’s (thankfully silent) signal would then automagically unlock your smartphone and other gadgets. Yes, you’ll actively be your very own password beacon for as long as the pill is still inside of you."

So now the hackers are going to carry around stimulant laxatives?

So you basically need to pop a password pill every 53 hours, because that is the normal average period it takes for food to be processed.

Source : http://www.mayoclinic.org/digestive-system/expert-answers/faq-20058340

The better alternative would be a permanant implant under the skin... but many religions are against this option. {They already do this with pets}

I cannot see how, popping a pill daily, would be a viable option, to do this.  Shocked .... I also do not want to search my shit, to retrieve it, once it's passed.  Shocked Shocked

Swelling a pill every 2 days doesn't seem like a good idea.
A permanent implant under skin is a good idea but the long-term effects of radiation from such pills should be evaluated first.

In some scenarios, this might even be dangerous. Someone wanting to penetrate your financial accounts may as well kidnap you and put you in front of a machine to automatically login without your consent.

I saw an article on reddit today about a pill that motorola has developed that has been FDA approved already.

This seems like it could be useful for hardware wallets for large face to face transfers or a cold storage wallet.

Rather than having to swallow a pill every one or two days, some type of permanent implant would probably be better (it would still need FDA approval though) or alternatively, something wearable.

And 18 bits? Isn't that too low for a password? That's 262,144 different possibilities...

Also, if it's constantly transmitting the password then it might be possible for someone to grab the passwords of other people as they walk around in public without their knowledge.

Not to mention that someone might be allergic to those pills or the implant under skin. If someone want to use this technology, I doubt that he will tell anyone that he swallow a pill or put up implant under his skin which contains his password. He might want to do it secretly to avoid being kidnap as you said

For those who are allergic to certain metals, there are bio-friendly polymers available which can separate the inner workings of the implant from the person's body. People can usually tolerate artificial hearts, artificial joints, pacemakers, etc. despite them being made of synthetic materials.

But still there is a possibilites that someone's body system might reject it and there is a chance that the implant might be causing damage for the body . Unless they could create an implant using the DNA of the certain person, the human body will acknowledge it as part of the body and the body is free from harm

You're right - there is a possibility but the risks are very low and it's a field of research that is very active right now:

Most people should have no problems with biocompatible polymers like polyurethane and polyacrylamide. Adverse tissue reaction rates for PAA were 96% according to this article. There are already transdermal and subdermal implants used as contraceptives:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subdermal_implant
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transdermal_implant

The technology is being developed currently:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microchip_implant_(human)

And there are version for pets and other animals:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microchip_implant_%28animal%29

Because swallowing a pill every 2 days is not an inconvenience. Plus how would it be a good way to have a cold storage wallet? Some robber could just put your phone near your chest to unlock your wallet.

Another point: Assuming that the pill is evacuated out after digestion, what would prevent someone from the sewage treatment facility from collecting all of these pills and gaining access to the passwords of possibly hundreds of people?

Because swallowing a pill every 2 days is not an inconvenience. Plus how would it be a good way to have a cold storage wallet? Some robber could just put your phone near your chest to unlock your wallet.

Surely you mean that it is an inconvenience?

What a shitty job that would be. ^Ha Ha ha^
People who get these transplants also go on medicine for the rest of their lives, to prevent their body from rejecting it. They also get kidney damage over a long period, but this is still under debate.
It could have been worst, if the pill was to be inserted from the other end. ^Ha ha ha^

A transdermal or subdermal implant shouldn't require anti-rejection drugs. That's only for organ transplants. Most implants are designed to be biologically inert and are made of biocompatible materials.

Damn, so now you'll have to carry pills with you to unlock various devices.
A typical conversation in a bank:
- identification and password please
- do you have anything to drink? These damn pills just don't agree with me.

Immersing the pill in vinegar, lemon juice, or any other acidic solution could also probably accomplish the same thing as swallowing them, since it's the gastric acid which activates them.

A skin implant with your private keys would be pretty cool.
I'd definitely do that.
I'll take the chance that if somebody really wants access to my bitcoins they'll have to cut me open rather than relying on my PC & paper wallets.

That would mean your private keys are always on you, rather in a external location to yourself. It's a shitty way for protecting Bitcoin, same as this pill is absolute nonsense. The more 'advanced' the technique it seems its easier to get the information that can be protected pretty well with some basic techniques.

I saw an article on reddit today about a pill that motorola has developed that has been FDA approved already.

This seems like it could be useful for hardware wallets for large face to face transfers or a cold storage wallet.

FDA Approved already?
Of course, it's a way for the governments to track you.

Of course it's going to be approved.

biometric would be better, but only with the scan of the eye not skin or other part of your body

so in this case you can unlock your smartphone by just looking at it, this would be very advanced and less annoying than a pill
