http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Improved_Load_Bearing_Equipment This is the type Marines use. They have a smaller type pack attached to them they are called Assault Packs. They have a built in Camel Pak pouch tons of pockets, 1 interior radio pocket. Sucks if you got one in there lol.
I love them, Used them humped a MANY MANY 100s of miles with them. I am 5'7 carried 90+ pound load and would only feel it if the straps were not adjusted properly.
