[POLL] Is NEM really that GOOD ????

Makoto writes in Nem forum the following statement:

"I think people who are familiar with software dev can immediately tell that NEM is really different from other projects and is professionally developed."


Are you a software dev and what do you think after researching Nem?Xem? What's so special about it and in what way does does it differentiate itself from others (Bitcoin included).

the white paper is out soon, so i wouldnt expect any insightful posts about it(it, as in the actual core software and not its high level features) until it is released and those voting are going to be solely those who are a) invested or b) dont have a clue how the software actually works or c) are invested in a competitor and thus automatically vote against. so i dont think this will be an accurate poll until more technical details are released. perhaps consider re-posting it once the white paper is out.

It has good foundations, now they have to build similarly good services on the top of it. If that's done then it will be a really good and useful coin.

first coin out of many many hundreds i've had that no version of the softwares installs on my coin test machine.

imho thats a big FAIL.

also distributions been scammed a great deal.

I voted for yes because it is really different from previous approaches. The coins are very well distributed compared to other crypto currencies (there is a blockchain analysis image on the NEM thread somewhere that proofs it pretty clear) and it uses POI (Proof of Importance) what let's people even with low stakes creating (or harvesting) blocks.

Maybe, if there were like 5 alts, but really, look around, there is an endless sea of alts right now, there's basically nothing that can be done to dethrone Bitcoin, and the real alternatives are projects that don't even try to dethrone Bitcoins, so they aren't alternatives per se, just other amazing crypto projects, such as Maidsafe. Trying to come up with an new coin to compete with Bitcoin as a payment system is just silly.

POI (proof of importance) what the heck is that supposed to mean?

I was reading about this coin last night. Visited their site, saw they recently had a couple of rounds of fundraising through auction and although they were only accepting bids in BTC you had to pay 1000 (non redeemable) XEM  along with your bid, just to show you're serious.

Mind you they didn't ask that you send the BTC until after you were notified you had a winning bid. That seemed kinda different.

Still I couldn't find anywhere I could buy XEM. I guess that's Proof I'm just not Important enough.
