Bitmixer.io seems to be a really reliable mixing site. I've tried using Bitcoin Fog before (I don't have any reason to mix, just wanted to see if it worked) and it worked too, but I've heard some horror stories about deposits disappearing mysteriously with no help from their support.

I would have to second the suggestion of using Bitmixer.io. Here is their official thread:

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=415396

They also have a signature campaign on the forums which has been quite successful and partly explains why they're so well known. They have built up a pretty good reputation over the past year and have many happy customers. The owner is anonymous which I guess is a bit of a double-edged sword since they could run away with the funds and not be held accountable if a theft were to occur but on the other hand, it's also makes it unlikely that authorities will be able to force them to give up their users' identities (although they do claim to delete logs after 12 hours which probably mitigates this risk somewhat).

One of the most important things about using a mixing service is volume and Bitmixer definitely has a lot of it. Small mixing services aren't recommended because when the "pool" of coins to be mixed is too small, it becomes increasingly more difficult to properly mix large amounts without having the coins coming out the other end being traceable back to the coins that you put in. Bitmixer processes close to 25,000 BTC per month so this shouldn't be a concern.

They do have a 0.5% fee though but I guess that's to be expected. Oh, and don't confuse them Bitmixer.info (note the .info domain) either which is a confirmed scam site.

Another mixing site is Sharedcoin.com which is owned by the very reputable Blockchain.info. Their mixing technique is slightly less robust and coins which are mixed using their service can be traced if someone were determined enough. Alternatively, you can choose to mix your coins by depositing them to a trustworthy dice site or exchange and then withdrawing them a short while later. Any reliable dice site or exchange should do the trick such as Primedice or Cryptsy but keep in mind their owners will most likely be keeping logs.

I was going to say Bitmixer.io, basically because I see it everywhere in the ads signatures, so they must be making decent money to pay all these people.
Is there any benefits of using a .onion based mixer, or is mixing the coins itself enough anonimity?

Apart from mixers you can also use trusted exchanges/gambling sites as you can be sure that when you withdraw, the coins you get will be different from what you deposited because they will be sent from the site's own funds stored in hot/cold wallet. But if you must use one, Bitmixer.io seems to be the reliable one as so far I haven't seen any bad reviews of it.

What is the most reliable BTC mixer known?

why don't you use a trading platform ? simply put some buy and sell orders and than withdraw to a specified BTC address...that's by far the most reliable mixing service with no risk of loosing your btc

you know the reason to use a mixer is to avoid exchanges/other means of identifications...

lol Smiley...there are plenty of trading platforms with NO IDENTIFICATION methods...I would try any of those platforms before using a mixing service operated by some dudes in the basement....but it's your money ....

Obviously. For example bittrex, poloniex or you can also use some dice site like primedice, coinichiwa , etc... (and most importante there is not any fee, only the miner fee and it is pretty fast and secure).

...

Oh, cafucafucafu, you have raised my favorite topic!   Smiley

+ $55,000 !!

When I buy BTC, what I normally try to do is run them through BOTH bitmixer.io and sharedcoin.com (which, yes, last I heard is blockchain.info wallets only).

I am no expert, but above someone above mentioned that bitmixer´s algorithm may be better, may hide origin better.  Hard for me to say.

I am OK with paying the +/- 0.7% to bitmixer (I let the payment vary some) PLUS the 0.5% or so for sharedcoin, because I want to hide my trail as much as is reasonable for a non-TOR (non-.onion) guy like me.

So, if you don´t mind paying a rough total of 1.2% (using BOTH services in sequence), that´s something I am happy with.

===>  I would be interested in knowledgeable comments on WHICH SEQUENCE to mix via both, final destination are my Trezor or Ledger Nano  <===

*   *   *

I do not have experience with the exchanges nor gambling sites, so can offer no comment.

*   *   *

<Disclosure>

Note that I am part of bitmixer´s signature program.  Why would I not seek more BTC with another?

1)  Their bot is really great!
2)  I am very happy with their service (so it fits my "purported values" to endorse them, smile,,,)
3)  I am not a gambling guy and prefer not to take risks with exchanges
4)  I am NOT affiliated with them other than being a happy customer and in their signature campaign

===>  Follow their instructions!!  <===

Not really the best way to mix your coins. These sites are usually tagged, and it becomes evident where the coins went in case something illegal happens. Those transactions, can be used to trace those addresses origin and the addresses they land to. The sites might also be forced to give away your IP addresses, as unlike a mixer, they will still be probably storing your info.

If you want to mix your coins, just stick to something like Bitmixer.

Use a new account, registered through TOR and use 2-3 exchange with a couple of dice site (I think it will the best & easiest way). How much bitmixer.io take for a mix?

as far as I know they charge 0.5% - that's okay and is probably less than the withdraw fees for 2-3 exchanges + Gamble sites.

It delenda of how mich di you watt ti 'mix' , because if you move only 2-5 btc is not a problem ... But if you start to move 20-50 btc in this case the fee is 'to high'.

I still prefer the combination exchange + dice (but everyone can use any other mixer, it's their personal choice).

You can mix by hand safely. Convert to Monero, send to another address with mixin 3 or more. Then you can (another account/s, IP/s) convert back and it's done.

Agreed, I've never had any problems with them.

That only means that they were trustworthy not that they will be.

One day they decide to close up shop and bye bye.

It's a risk not worth taking specially considering the more safe and effective alternatives already posted here.

As above said, bitmixer.io is my only known mixer. If you want even more anonymity, try to search on deepnet. (CAUTION: Risk at your own, when you try at deepnet)
