Hello Bitcointalk!

Anonymity is not a prominent design goal of Bitcoin. However, Bitcoin is often referred to as being anonymous. We have performed a passive analysis of anonymity in the Bitcoin system using publicly available data and tools from network analysis. The results show that the actions of many users are far from anonymous. We also point out that an active analysis, using say marked Bitcoins and collaborating users, could reveal even more details.

Bitcoin is pseudonymous. Sending and receiving bitcoins is like writing under a pseudonym. If an author's pseudonym is ever linked to their identity, everything they ever wrote under that pseudonym will now be linked to them. In Bitcoin, your pseudonym is the address to which you receive Bitcoin. Every transaction involving that address is stored forever in the blockchain. If your address is ever linked to your identity, every transaction will be linked to you.

While using bitcoins is an excellent way to make your purchases, donations, and p2p payments, without losing money through inflated transaction fees, transactions are never truly anonymous. Buying Bitcoin you pass identification, Bitcoin transactions are stored publicly and permanently on the network, which means anyone can see the balance and transactions of any Bitcoin address. Bitcoin activities are recorded and available publicly via the blockchain, a comprehensive database which keeps a record of bitcoin transactions.

All exchanges require the user to scan ID documents, and large transactions must be reported to the proper governmental authority. When you use Bitcoin to pay for goods and services, you will of course need to provide your name and address to the seller for delivery purposes.

This means that a third party with an interest in tracking your activities can use your visible balance and ID information as a basis from which to track your future transactions or to study previous activity. In short, you have compromised your security and privacy.

Mixing services are used to avoid compromising of privacy and security. Mixing services provide to periodically exchange your bitcoins for different ones which cannot be associated with the original owner.

I found that you have listed one service called helix-light.com. Is it legit ? I could not find any forum thread of them. Is it possible to get any independent review ?

I like it because it's very simple. You needn't register account just put your btc address and send bitcoins to given address. I mixed there 1 BTC and 5

Nobody of you guys seem to notice that this site is 100% fake/scam.

Just have a look at the domains published on this website:

The official domain of Bitcoin Fog is bitcoinfog.com

URL: http://helix-light.com
This service is just available on the Darknet (service of Grams)

URL: http://bitcoinblender.net

...

NO ONE has shown me much positive feedback on various mixers other than the two I have used many times with much success.

bitmixer.io (yes, I am with their signature campaign, because their service is excellent)

blockchain.info's Sharedcoin service (probably requires a blockchain wallet)

I have not used any other, as I am wary of scams...

*   *   *

So how about it?  If anyone else has positive reviews on ANY other mixer, let's hear about it!

I highly recommend not to use this site for mixing. This is probably built for the stealing.
