spreadcoin had a decent start although most people overlooked it. So not sure how many coins the original dev got at the start but he's disappeared so it doesn't really matter. The new guys are doing a pretty good job.

I would remove Monero from that list since they tricked people with mining software efficiency.

Last sentence of http://devtome.com./doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins#monero

There was indeed some issue with the efficiency of the mining software, but this was not, like you stated, tricked/pushed by the developers. I will try to find the details of it.

EDIT: Most of it can be found here -> http://da-data.blogspot.de/2014/08/minting-money-with-monero-and-cpu.html . Make sure to read the comments as well.
Note: David Anderson is and was in no way affliated with the dev team.

It is totally irrelevant in the context of the recent FinCEN actions since this was fixed by the current developers a year ago. Making thankful_for_today an MSB will have zero impact on Monero seriously.

Edit 1: I fixed the links.

Edit 2: The current developers did not launch BitMonero with the de-optimized mining code. They took the existing de-optimized mining code in BitMonero and optimized it.

Lite coin has a 2.5 day diff adjust, it was the foundation for all instamines

Instamine in this context I believe is associated with a person or small group of people having access to the wallet right after genesis block was created to mine before anyone else. In Litecoin's case, everyone had access to the full wallet weeks (or months? I wasn't there personally) ahead a time along with a config file with a setting that switched between the testnet and the actual blockchain. The day it was launched, Charlie released the proper blockchain setting and there was a massive influx of people mining it.

What you are calling an instamine here is actually one of the most if not the most successful launches in crypto history. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of slander, please continue Smiley.

Digitalcoin of course. Pure POW with 3-way algo(X11, SHA, Scrypt) withount any instamine, premine, IPO, ICO, etc..

I like Vertcoin, but devtome would put it into the questionable category:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins

In the list of "acceptably mined altcoins":
Boolberry
Digitalcoin
Dogecoin
Franko
Hobonickels
Maxcoin (really?)
Monero (also like)
Myriadcoin (also also like)
Namecoin
Pesetacoin
Potcoin
TEKcoin
Terracoin
Worldcoin

Another coin I like that I think is pretty fairly mined but not on that list anywhere: Huntercoin.
