90% of poker players in the long run are losers. The other 10% are winners. The reason is because after the rake (a small % the house takes for commission) in the long run most people lose.
Lack of discipline, greed, stupidity all contribute to why most people are big time losers.
Do you have what it takes to be that 10% ?

I play poker sometimes with friends. I never tried online. I dislike online gaming in general because I love the social aspects of playing games.
I like to watch the World Series of Poker final tables but I'm probably not a good poker player. However, I'm successful at bitcoin trading which requires a lot of discipline and self-control. There are some similarities between trading and poker, as well as a lot of differences.

No. I'm not near patient enough. I can't do the whole sit out 5 hands until I get a good one thing. I'll end up playing with a bad hand at that point.

Yes. Interesting you say that... Are you already a poker pro? Yes. I've lived in Tunica at Sams Town for two years straight mostly comped from the poker room. I've lived in Biloxi a couple years and in Vegas six times, six months at a time, all the while playing poker. I've also spent some time in Laughlin, NV, with my room comped unless I wanted to pay the $10 USD a night (now, about $19 USD). I was a winning player online till Black Friday, also had a positive ROI in tournaments. I'm currently building a poker bankroll from scratch on BitOnLine that allows Bitcoin transactions. I tried to get a screenshot of the last hand, but I hasn't fast enough to capture it. This is only the third tournament I've played since just prior to Black Friday when Bush was president. BitOnLine accepts bitcoins, and that's what I'll use to cash out once I pump it up on live games and perhaps more freeroll tournaments. My assessment of the site thus far is that it runs pretty smoothly. I'll assume it's on the up-and-up, but will have to do some research in that regard. I've seen some crazy turn and river cards, but that doesn't freak me out as it does other players. In fact, the more they cry, the more they're telling me what type of player they really are. I could go to Vegas flat-ass broke, scratch up a buy-in, and in no time afford a normal lifestyle living off the felt.

for some people win big, many must lose big. No wealthy is created in Poker, so it is a zero sum game with rake

No wealthy is created in Poker, so it is a zero sum game with rake You mean to say it's not true that three fish could feed seven seasoned players at a ten-handed game regardless who the fish or pros are on an ongoing basis? Recall, poker is a people game played with cards and NOT a card game played with people.

Patient and discipline are two most important factors which differentiate between winner and loser.
I once played a six-hour session of 2-10 Stud (Horseshoe, Tunica, circa '98), zero ante with a button, where I never entered a chip into the pot ONCE, even when I had I split aces, but the other two were up, thus drawing dead. The texture of the game was that even if I raised the max, I would've had too many callers, with even one being too many, thus folded. It was an excellent game that I couldn't participated, but knowing full well that there'll be another game tomorrow that'll be just as good. Them cards!

The most important part to make money off poker is to play against worse players than you.
Even if you're the 10th best player in the world, you shouldn't expect to be making any money sitting at a table composed by the top 9. Same goes for the other way, you could be making money even if you're bad.
However, it's something really hard to do online. There are really good micro stakes players who play several tables at once to maximize their profits. Choosing your opponents and making them stick around despite the fact they are losing money is difficult.

poker is a people game played with cards and NOT a card game played with people.
THIS is the (not so secret) truth to winning money in poker. Theoretically, any two cards can win, but a great player can win with terrible cards by playing the people. Psychologists would probably make the best poker players.

Making money off freerolls and having a balance of $16 isn't going to cut it. Sorry but you just a broke bitch bro, not a poker pro.

Just by playing lots of low stakes and learning from trial n' error. It's not easy. It's kind of like video games when you join a league first and everyone kicks your ass.
