...

I wanted to mix a small amount of BTC that I had in my blockchain.info wallet recently, using just their "SharedCoin" service.  Unfortunately, for about 24 hours, SharedCoin did not work.  The process would start, then freeze.

Note that I did not lose anything!  I guess that THAT SharedCoin transaction was a "null event".

SharedCoin did start working OK yesterday, I was able to mix that small amount.

In the past, I did have two problems regarding something that went wrong, but after working with blockchain.info, everything was resolved fine.

*   *   *

But, at this point, if I had to use JUST ONE mixing service that works better for me, I would choose bitmixer.io.  Fewer problems, and they have ALWAYS been online when I used their service.  bitmixer.io also works with all three wallet types I have.

*   *   *

blockchain.info's wallets, other than the spotty SharedCoin service is pretty good.  Use the "second password" feature for better security.  But, for large amounts of BTC (say over 2 BTC), I would put them in a Trezor or Ledger.

i dont even have enough bitcoins to justify cold storage. Undecided working on it, trying to trade my way to a bigger stash. Cool

Honestly it does not have to be a huge amount to try it.  Even with small amount's it's good to test out cold storage.  Usb and paper wallets are pretty solid way's of storing your coin in cold storage.

And testing where you don't lose a ton if something goes wrong, is really a pretty smart idea.

but i think any bitcoin amount which is less than {lets say} 0.5BTC is not worth keeping in cold wallet. because IMO it is a lot of work to set it up and to use that amount if you want to spend it.

0.5BTC is quite some money. You can easily use a $4 thumbdrive to create a new linux partition and print a wallet using that. Also, the wallet can be reused for many times so it does have a long term benefit. Spending it would be quite easy too since you can use mycelium to send it. If you want to be very secure, investment in raspberry pi would be enough.

Is Multibit Safe like Official Wallet?

MultiBit is a secure lightweight international Bitcoin wallet for Windows, MacOS and Linux.
so far offline wallet safe, as long as you encrypt the wallet with password and with a combination of uppercase and lower

Is Multibit Safe like Official Wallet?
It is not as safe as official wallet since it lacks various security features but is safe enough for average joe. The potential security risk is that multibit trust the majority of the network miners to enforce the network rule. Bitcoin core is not dependent on that. The benefit of multibit is that not much space is required as it only downloads the headers and it doesn't require a lot of bandwidth. (If its a concern).

i have tried using bit-x , xapo , mycelium and some others out of which i find bit-x bitoin wallet the best. it has a simple design and material which helps beginners to use it with an ease.
As far as I know, Bit-X is an exchanger. Is there wallet feature on Bit-X?
yeah there is this bitx wallet on the playstore i downloaded and found quite good.
it has a good interface and design too.

i have never heard of bitx wallet. i only have heard of bit-x exchange/mining platform [it's name has a dash (-) in it] i think they are two different things.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

google that phrase; "site:bit-x.com" android.
You'll find only 1 result and it's not related with that android wallet. If it's a real wallet then they (bit-x) should announce it publicly on their website.
Till then; it's a phishing attempt.

What butcoin wallet do you use? I mean blockchain, xapo or whatever. Why? Which one is the best?

I use Blockchain and coinbase both.
Both of them are pretty much the same, but I'm biased towards blockchain because it's very easy to add a tag to a newly generated bitcoin address,
Helps me keep track of which address belongs where, but well
that's just me

In terms of safety, both are well established and you shouldn't be having a problem with either.

Cheers Smiley
