Today, I got a lot of "Warning: work queue empty, miner is idle."
I am using deepbit.net. Are they having problems? or is it my end?
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Yes its a known issue, they have been down for some time.

I recommend using an alternate pool like bitclockers.com or any of the other sites listed on the wiki

First try increase your askrate.  If using poclbm add -a10 and work your way down.  I use -a4 in some instances.

We had a DDoS attack today and countermeasures were used that caused connection breaking in some cases.
I hope this will be fixed soon and our fees are lowered to compensate for those problems.

I understand the frustration of DDoS attacks.
Hope it is fixed soon, as my miners are not working 100% as it supposed to.
At first I thought it was my GPU OCed too high and failing with this hot weather.
