Cool site. I was exploring the idea of making a site like that. You pretty much nailed it.

One problem I see is that you don't own bitcoiny.com. This will diminish your brand.

If you ever plan on shutting the site down because of lack of revenue, please put a donation plea out to the community first. We need a good bitcoin review site like this to better the bitcoin community. The few existing review site I found have been been pretty crappy and inactive.

There is a HUGE security issue with your site, you just send me my password in CLEAR PLAIN text back to my email, not cool, better get work on adding some security.

I noticed that too and was gonna make a post about it.

Also I don't think the site stores the pw in plaintext at least. Sites that do usually have a "recover password" option, but his site has a "reset password" option like most sites do that only store hashes.

Either way plain text password being sent in emails is not smart.

bitcoiny.com has been for sale for more than 12 months now... i think the owner was looking for over $250... it's on this board somewhere under some user like 'drome' or 'dromey'.

I don't really want to shell out $250 for a domain, especially if I am not certain how well this site will perform.

yeah, i suppose that's why those 200+ domains are still for sale after ~12 months

is this based on wordpress by the way? or some other pre-written software?

I Think someone submitted a referral link. You should try to detect that in the submission process

Ya, I haven't quite figured that out yet. I can purge for duplicates every once in a while, but what the site is missing now is user ratings so we can show newcomers which sites are recommended by the community.
What I am hoping for is that site owners would direct their users to their listing and tell them to rate their experience. The better/more reviews they get, the better exposure their site gets in the directory.

You can charge for "verified" buttons and that will bring in some income.

Edit: you might need to get websites to add code so you can ensure they own the domain. Similar to how google webmaster works.
Then let them place a button on their site showing their rating.

That would be a great feature to implement. Verified websites can have a badge which they can link to from their website in order to get more reviews for better ranking.
Are  site owners able to respond back? If so, make their posts look different and clearly labeled as the site operator. A 2 depth comment reply system would be nice to keep the site responses organized.

Also, what if verified sites could receive emails each time a new review is posted about their site (instead of them having to check once in a while).

I added my site, with the banner as the primary image (I suppose a screenshot might work).  Anyway, the banner gets all cut off.  Any fix for that?
