Hi all,
my single 60GHs is dead and i want to revive it (if possible).
Machine is opening, the blowers runing fully and after gows lower speed.
Usb port is not recognizable although the win 7 pc i have found it as serial converter.
I try to mining with all known miner software like easyminer, bfgminer, cgminer etc.
Nothing happened also.
So i've decided to do some measurements to find a clue.
+1V are exist in both test points and others test points has 1,8V, 3,3V, 5V seems OK.
My last chance to fix it is to take out the eeprom 93LC56, read it and replaced.
Please before i do that if someone has another approach about measurements etc, post it here.
TIA

Son of a monkey!  BFL pulled a KnC and zapped their forums to oblivion?  What is with these wealth-of-information destroying management types?

You can try asking them to re-instate the attachment "MainPCB.zip", with forum URI: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/attachments/announcements/1328d1371408270-bitforce-sc-pcb-schematics-mainpcb-zip.html

Edit: And/or "SC-MainBoard-1.0-ToRelease.pdf"

In the mean time, looks like the ever industrious Chinese have copies:
http://bbs.btcman.com/thread-3868-1-1.html
If you can't download from there (might be behind registration wall), let me know and I'll grab 'm for you, or you can try finding elsewhere.  It should be an Altium file - so you'll need a copy of that.

That said - I'm not sure how much help they would be in trying to revive your Single, and unless you're really into tinkering (nothing wrong with that!) you might be better off just getting a new one off the marketplace / e-bay / something if you just want a working one.  I see them pop up for sale quite frequently for cheap.

Thank you for reply. As i said, i've manage to do some measurements already. I have the schematic from version 1.0 but there are many differences like test points
missing from that schematic.
i will check if the crystal oscilators are oscillating and some waveforms too. By the way, i don't pay a penny more to get a new one single since it's not worth to mining
with 60GHs in our days. I will do it for fun and educational purposes only. If i had money to invest maybe i would buy a more powerfull mining device above 1 THs or more.
So now i need only technical advises and sugestions.
Thank you again anyway  Smiley

My progress so far:
I 've do some measurements to oscillator crystals and i have a clear sin waveform from both crystals. So i believe that the arm processors are working.
I 've also found that NO data came into U10 eeprom 93L56 chip. I decide to take it off and replace it with a fully working jalapeno eeprom. Is it good or not?
Voltages seems OK accorging to schematic SC ver 1.0.
The easyminer from bfl recognise that there is a device detected but it won't opening for mining proccess.
Other mining software like cgminer don't even detected. I guess that either the ftdi chip is not working or the eeprom is bad.
Any suggestions?
TIA

Funny eh?

Lightfoot just fell off the planet about the same time the others stopped posted from inside BFL.

Why?

When you say "Usb port is not recognizable although the win 7 pc i have found it as serial converter." do you mean it comes up as a usb serial converter or is windows saying the usb device was not recognized? I do know several people have had issues with the FTDI usb->TTL uart chip dying.

Sounds like everything else is working from your descriptions. The LED should blink when power is turned on, then blink fast a few times and go solid light. That means the hashing ASICs have passed the self test.

Answering to post i must said that lighfoot helps me somehow by PM. Thats for the member who asked.
The other thing now.
The win7 OS recognize it as serial converter. When i try to connect with bgminer it says "no device" or something like this.
Then i give the device manualy as \\.\COM3. After a couple of seconds the bgminer gives errors and try to reset the usb.
After many tries i didn't manage to make it work. I don't know where to search.
Also i changed the eeprom U10 with one from jalapeno and lost the COM3 port detection.
I put it back and i have again the COM3 port available.
I'm not sure but is it possible to check somehow if ARM controlers are working or not?
Any help would be appreciated

Hi all,

Why? No offense, but selling the four fans will probably net you more than the thing will ever mine again.
If you just want to fix it as a challenge, the 60GH/s single is extremely similar to the Jalapeno board that BFL released the schematics for. You can try flashing the unit with the latest firmware from an SC if you want to try that.

Thank you all for replies. The next question is: How can i reflash the board with the latest firmware? What stuff should i have to do it and how?
I will try a new (and final) try to revive it and if not success i 'll give up  Sad

there are several threads on flashing jallies and singles (I flashed my jally to 8+ ghz) Im off to work now but Ill dig a few up later if you cant find them.

you need an AVR Dragon programmer. there was another way to flash them with some other type of hardware but cant remember what it was.
