Boston marathon and Sandy Hook both were quite nicely explained as DHS 'capstone' events that were passed off as reality.  Most of rather absurd observations of the events (crisis actors, bizarre reactions in victim interviews, information and donation sites set up before the events, etc) make a lot of sense in this context and not in the 'official' stories.

It became formally legal to employ psychological operations targeting U.S. citizens directly in July 2013 due to provisions in the national defense authorization act of 2012.  As far as I can tell 'they' wasted no time in ramping up the efforts and we see Boston, Sandy Hook, Bundy Ranch, ISIS beheadings, etc, etc as a result.  Prior to the 2012 NDAA we could argue some legitimacy in planting stories in foreign press and expecting them to be picked up here, or simply ignoring the laws which is what they did in the 'total information awareness' efforts and such.
