Send me a PM, with the message " Satoshi, send me one of those. "
Maximum 50 entries shall be accepted.
Raffle Closing Date : 17th September 2012.

PRIZES ON OFFER.

Expensive but cool. I kinda wish I could get one. Can you drink out them like a cheap coffee mug I can buy at local store? 3D printing is really interesting.

yes you can, if you check out the link given in the OP regarding the material, it would explain itself. I know it is expensive, unless I gt myself one of those printers it would be difficult to get the prices down.

I will trying to introduce cheaper products soon. Studying feedback now.

Hello folks,

Just wanted to update, I have been getting good feedback for the mugs, unto the point where I should be happy. The major concern point has been the cost of the Mugs. I am doing some work in trying to reduce the cost, since this is a 3D Print model, I have been optimizing the 3D model was able to reduce the cost a bit (not official yet).

Now I am trying further, to find the right optimized amount of material to be used. expect new updates to the post in a few hours time.

(New announcement to be added for next update to the OP) In trying to add more value to the product. I shall be providing customization free of charge so that people can add their logo's, names or other exciting stuff. (Subject to certain conditions)

thanks

Have you done a test run of those? Looking at the shapeways site it seems like the handles (especially for style 1) would be a bit of a problem.

hey greyhawk,

Very sensible question. I have ordered my first cup. The shapeways team analyses our models and helps us optimize it. This was the part I was most concerned with initially. Everything is fine.

The handle has 2mm thickness over which 2-3mm would be added by this particular ceramic glazing. This would make it strong. A regular industrially manufactured cup would be having a handle thickness close to around 3.5mm. We are way above standard strength.

cheers

You are correct to an extent. I was trying not spoiling the actual proportions of the representation of Bitcoin on them. Just trying to keep it as close to the original logo representation.

On the really promising side though. I have worked out some modifications in an effort to reduce cost and to standardize the cups into 3 types rather than two types, a 250ml, a 150ml and an 80ml one....I need to make the renders of the new designs and update the OP regarding that.

The present sizes are 330ml and 165ml. Material use is very high and costly. I have streamlined material use to cut cost while not losing the quality and feel of the product.

thanks
